“Has been” is not the same as “was.”
The former is the present perfect continuous tense. The latter is the past.
If he had said “is,” the press would unduly focus on that and say he is being delusional in thinking he really is still the president and is going to continue to be.
I just don’t think he wants to give them that talking point right now and a news cycle with it.
What else did he say that you think he might want the press to focus on instead?
I don’t know. I had about 1 1/4 hours sleep last night and worked all day with just a couple of catnaps.
Nothing is looking at all like any scenario I envisaged in ANY direction.
And the left looks utterly panicked without a hint of gloating; just vindictiveness on the part of Schumer, and some bloodthirstiness on the part of low-level Twitter trolls, but otherwise, no energy from ANY of them.
There must be a huge something going on that nobody is talking about.
