Bill Clinton’s term was the beginning of the complete corruption of DC. Of course there were bad and corrupt congressmen before, but I think his term marked the fast slide into utter perversity and power madness that has brought us so low since the early 1990s.
I’ve always called it a “public coarseness”. Corruption has probably thrived in DC for a long time but it was mostly hidden under the rug. The Clintons were outright and upfront with it.
It started before that. Remember Bush Sr is tied to the Clintons as well and was previously head of CIA.
But I’ll agree with the Clintons it sped up dramatically.
Eh..it precedes the Clintons....
“Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.”
