The mayor of DC has to request the National Guard be brought in. The same is true for the City of Portland, for example.
The DC National Guard is under the command of the President. The President has delegated that to the Secretary of Defense, who delegated to the Secretary of the Army. This may be the case prior to President Trump; I didn’t research that far back. So the Secretary of the Army is who approved this build-up.
The state National Guard who have been sent to DC fall under the command of the DC National Guard. That means they’re under the direct command of the President/Secretary of Defense/Secretary of the Army.
That's what I have been wondering. If Nancy or the DC Mayor & the restt of the Dims are not requesting the calling in of these troops, why aren't they going crazy screaming at Trump for calling them in?
They certainly made enough noise this summer when he wanted to call them in & they called him a dictator.
Who is paying for all of this - the Biden Inauguration fund? I remember they scrutinized every penny Trump spent on his inauguration (maybe they are still looking at it).
Is this on the DC budget? The Federal budget? All those businesses boarded up & fortified in that RSBN video was frightening. In other places like Portland... or when a hurricane hits, the businesses have to pay on their own to board up. Who is paying for all of this?
