Wish you could just stay home with Penny, but know you probably have things to do and places to be.

Well, I was unable to go to church this morning (Special Guest Bible Study), because it took me two hours to shovel off my car and clean the driveway. However, it’s all done now. If it snows tonight, I’ll call the Asst. Pastor to pick me up with my bass and my book for Sunday Service.
I’m right on his route between his house and the church.

That’s a bummer, but so glad you will have a back-up plan for tomorrow. All of you stay safe!

Dr.Zhivago was on the Dish recently. I remember watching that many years ago. Julie Christie was stunning.
We are warmer here, but not above freezing yet. It is not painful to be outside though.
Snow on the way Sunday night, up to 3 inches, no big deal.

While staying inside where it is warm, why not come here and get to know us?
Happy Saturday, everyone.

She was indeed.
I was 12 when the movie came out. My Mom would not let me go see it because it was an “adult” movie.
I went anyway, lied about my age, paid the adult price of $2.00, and sat through the entire movie TWICE.
When I got home, Mom demanded to know where I had been for the last six hours.
I told her I was at the movies, watching Dr. Zhivago.
“That was an ADULT MOVIE!” Mom yelled. “It showed two people in bed together who weren’t married!”
“They were married!” I replied. “Just not to each other.”
That’s when Mom realized I was not a little girl anymore.

February 21Unimaginable Promises
He has given us his very great and precious promises.
2 Peter 1:4In our moments of greatest failure, it can be easy to believe itās too late for us, that weāve lost our chance at a life of purpose and worth. Thatās how Elias, a former inmate at a maximum-security prison in New York, described feeling as a prisoner. āI had broken . . . promises, the promise of my own future, the promise of what I could be.ā
It was Bard Collegeās āPrison Initiativeā college degree program that began to transform Eliasā life. While in the program, heĀ participated onĀ a debate team, which in 2015 debated a team from Harvardāand won. For Elias, being āpart of the team . . . [was] a way of proving that these promises werenāt completely lost.ā
A similar transformation happens in our hearts when we begin to understand that the good news of Godās love in Jesus is good news for us too. Itās not too late, we begin to realize with wonder. God still has a future for me.
And itās a future that can neither be earned nor forfeited, dependent only on Godās extravagant grace and power (2 Peter 1:2ā3). A future where weāre set free from the despair in the world and in our hearts into one filled with His āglory and goodnessā (v. 3). A future secure in Christās unimaginable promises (v. 4); and a future transformed into the āfreedom and glory of the children of Godā (Romans 8:21).
Reflect & Pray
Why can it be difficult for us to accept āunearnedā grace and love? How does it touch your heart to consider that in Godās eyes you have a future filled with unimaginable beauty?
Jesus, some days all I can see is the ways Iāve disappointed myself and others, the ways Iāve broken the future Iāve dreamed of. Help me to see the unchanging beauty of the future I find in You.Ā
