A Maryland woman was taken for a wild ride Thursday when she stepped on the wrong pedal and sent her SUV onto railroad tracks in Rockville, according to police.
A photo posted on Facebook by the Rockville City Police Department shows the vehicle nearly perpendicular to the ground after crashing through a chain-link fence and landing on top of railroad tracks in the city.

Rockville City Police responded to the 1100 block of Rockville Pike today at 10:30 a.m. for a driver who attempted to park her vehicle and hit the gas instead of the brake. The vehicle has gone through the fencing and onto the metro tracks.
When I moved to Maryland the first thing I noticed was how poor Maryland residents drive.
This is not surprising. Some cars now have huge amounts of horsepower and accidently hitting the accelerator can get you in trouble pretty quick. I drove my sister-in-law’s Jeep Grand Wagoneer with the 350hp engine and it is insanely easy to chirp the tires from a stop. I can see that Jeep going over the wall like that if your foot slipped into the accelerator.
A place near me has a parking area like that with a low level concrete wall.
Last year a sedan went through it and sat perched halfway for a couple of days.
I have hit the wrong pedal before but luckily without a disaster result like that.

The spaces were marked: Car-Car then five feet of red curb, then Car-car five more feet of red curb. Even though each car had an additional five feet to park, they still could not do it.

Too many out-of-staters with different driving styles.
I think she did a fine job. Easier to leap from the vehicle to the passing train. The hard part is to make the leap and catch the train before it hits the vehicle.
Plus, being parked that way, it’s anti-theft by default.
Is THAT one of those “Compact parking spots” that I hear about? She was on the fence about parking there and then just went for it.

Yeah, but You Drive Too Fast.
;)
Now that is some real handy rescue work on that car. How do you go from a near-vertical position jammed in by chain link fencing that could give way at any moment to a crane suspending the car in a horizontal position with both axles supported?
That’s probably not something you practice for and have to improvise on the fly.
a loose nut behind the wheel is the sure cause...
NFI trucking: “THAT’S the quality of driver we need!”
You should see ‘em in NJ & FL.
With the whole family in the car, my Dad would have seen that result and sighed; “Women Drivers!”. Me and all my siblings would have laughed at his joke. Mom would act as though she didn’t hear anything, and she would not be laughing.
The downside is that it will take a lot of cranes to assist cars leaving the parking lot.
True, unless I am very careful or have cruise control on.
