Also, a lot of the weird remarks might be inside jokes. They’ve been a community for 5 years, starting on Reddit, and like us, they have a lot of running jokes. Remember Viking kitties, and a rabbit with pancakes on its head, the Rachel Corrie references, and “Thailand??”

it IS - once the handshake icon is off your name things will be a little different - but it’s a LOT of activity you have for a “newbie”.

I understand this.. but like I said, no greater friend in the US Senate than Rand Paul for Donald Trump. They’re in the same party, share many positions and policies and speak often on the phone.

I think it is still influential and I hope it continues to be. Those kind of communities can build momentum and can help sustain movements and bring more people into the fold.

(Kotaku is a game review site that was part of the whole gamergate debacle - gamergate was when certain, really bad, games made by women were being highly reviewed by sites like Kotaku and other media. When the gamers voiced their opinions on the game, Kotaku and others blamed the gamers for their misogyny and hate speech. After some investigation by soem of those gamers - Turns out that the women were giving sexual favors for reviews - that REALLY ticked off the gaming sites and started a whole cultural attack on gamers for their hate and misogyny and that games were really about and for women all along. (and LGBTQXYZ peeples)
Yeah, FR is a lot tamer now. We used to have a lot more... something. I don’t know. I guess we’re all just older now. I’ve been here 20 years (18 on this account. My first one got Zotted.)
I like to spread the message and reach as many people as I can so think its worth sticking with for now and seeing if they will gradually accept me especially if I lose the newbie status as Sky suggests.
I’m certainly not there to cause trouble or problems.
I like it. Man, it’s refreshing to see the younger generation pick up the mantle of conservatism. May not be what we all agree on but they’ll figure out what works and grow into it. I’m just grateful they get it.
Sounds pretty much the norm for most if not all generations during that post puberty stage. I was that way. My son was that way and grandson is as well but he doesn't act out around me. lol
