Is Anyone Else Alone This Christmas Eve? (annual vanity)
From Skooz's Comfy Home | 12/24/2020 | Skooz

Posted on 12/24/2020 3:58:34 PM PST by Skooz

Just wondering if any of my fellow Freepers are, like me, spending Christmas Eve solo.

Unlike previous years, however, I'm not quite alone, as I am now sharing my home with a two year old Greyhound I adopted last Spring.

Other than he and I, it's a cozy, quiet, peaceful and solo Christmas Eve. How about everyone else?

Please try Pentatonix Christmas Sing-along songs on YouTube. All the traditional classics. Some have a lot of filler between verses, but the verses themselves are sung straight

Merry Christmas! I’m a Sioux Falls native but have sadly been in the Twin Cities metro for 35 years. I miss South Dakota and would dearly love to return there to live when my husband retires.

Freepmail me if you want to talk.

I too have fur babies to keep company this Christmas. It started snowing about three hours ago. There is about an inch or so now and Weather station says expect 3 to 5 inches until around four AM. The powdered sugar look is so beautiful to awaken to. Me and the fur baby kitties will have roast beef for Christmas dinner. The snow has discouraged my Raccoon mama from coming around tonight for her wheat bread. I reckon she's all rolled up in her lodging somewhere. I'm guessing she'll have five babies by May and bring them around for treats then.

I wonder sometimes, if God means for some to be alone at Christmas so they/we focus upon Hid Son, whom I believe is soon to gather the redeemed to Himself and return tot he Father's House. More than enough company then ... but we ought try to add more for the ride. What a wondrous thing, that The Creator of the Universe would take flesh and dwell among us!

I always enjoy reading this thread, thanks for posting!

I’m alone this evening- and content. I listened to the Messiah, finished wrapping presents and snacked on cheeses, homemade bread, olives, devilled eggs:)

I thought a bit of the anxious years of huge get-togethers, “important parties” and lots of fussing about perfect food and decorations and clothes. It’s difficult now to understand what all that excitement was for!

My son will be here tomorrow, then going to friends. I like the peace of my 6th decade!

Merry Christmas and may the Light Christ brings shine brightly in your hearts.

Solo, except for my beautiful female borzoi who I purchased three months ago. I have not spent so many walks per day over so many days.

She has this habit of standing up on her hind legs with her front legs at her sides looking like a tall meerkat scanning for predators when she sees other dogs and would like to play with them. It’s really funny when she does it.

Not sure what your situation is, whether it is truly “alone” or just “alone for the night”, but what I do know, judging from the responses you got, is that most Freepers don’t know what the definition of “alone” is. But what I have learned over the years is that most people can’t comprehend past their own experience.

So, if you are just alone for the night, then it isn’t so bad. Be of good cheer for tomorrow. If it is ALONE, then you should also realize that you are not really alone - you are just separated from people just like you by distance and lack of circumstance.

Alone for me is merely alone for the night. I’ll be at mom’s house tomorrow with family and a traditional Christmas, with gifts and dinner and I’ll be anything but alone.

Well, these are not really Christmas Carols, but there may be some people here who might want to give a listen to them now anyway.

Just my dog Punkin, the Lord and me.

Here’s the the scrumptious Christmas dinner I’ll be enjoying tomorrow: Salisbury steak and gravy courtesy of On-Cor, a baked potato from the Wal*Mart produce dept. and mac and cheese from Banquet. Every thing a guy who doesn’t cook could want. Little heavy on the carbs but Christmas comes just once a year :)

I am here with my brother, but this is our first Christmas without our Mom and Dad. It’s hardly the same without them here. I’m not despairing, but I do miss them and the last minute wrapping of presents.

For as long as I have lived, we had big Christmas Eve celebrations (7 fishes, etc.) This year, only a few of us were able to get together. Dad’s failing fast (in a wheelchair, with Alzheimers & Parkinsons), Mom’s a trooper, I feel sorriest for her because she always cooked up a storm for the holiday and really loved to provide a fine table for us all. This year we just ordered from the local fishery, had separate tables. My kids all did their own thing from their own houses (I’m ok with that, birds gotta fly and all that).

I thank God we were all still able to wish each other a Merry Christmas, but shedding a tear that our gatherings may never again be as they were in the old days.

Just finished watching my annual viewing of Sim’s Christmas carol. Everyone’s asleep. I’m going to pour myself my annual glass (or two) of good Port, sit by the tree, and turn on my old CD of my favorite Koledy.

I did in 2010, when my late wife died in november of that year, except for Lucy who my late wife rescued in the spring of that year, also in 2011 and 2012. However I remarried in 2013 and am no longer alone. Except that she just left for a battered women’s shelter where she now runs the night shift. But I still have Lucy, and her new brothers Jake and Bootsy. Both of them rescues also. Oh and let’s not forget Jangles and MooMoo, brother and sister felines who actually run the household.
