A man, woman and their service dog used the emergency slide to slip out of an airplane that was preparing to take off from LaGuardia Airport on Monday morning.
The passengers opened a cabin door, activating the slide, and took off as the Delta flight bound for Atlanta, Ga., was taxiing out of the runway at around 10:55 a.m., according to law enforcement sources and an airline spokesman.
Antonio Murdock, 31, told Port Authority cops that his post-traumatic stress disorder was triggered on the plane, the sources said.

The most important question of the story, that the "journalists" leave out, is did the man or woman or dog say "weeeeeeeee" as they went?

And maybe a second look at his ‘service’ dog? Doesn’t sound like it did much good on the plane.
To: fr_freak
I sure would have. And as they perp walked me, I would have shouted “TOP O’ THE WORLD, MA!”
But then again, there’s a stereotype to uphold, and after shelling out money for a plane ticket, there is no way I would lose all that cash. PTSD ShmeeTSD. No emergency exit.

When I was a flight attendant, the one big NO NO was ‘DO NOT POP A SLIDE’.
Those things are about $25k+ to repack.

"...DO NOT POP A SLIDE..."
That is quite a blanket statement you made.
If a jetliner has crashed and in danger of catching on fire...the crew should focus entirely on passenger safety and not how much it costs to repack an inflatable emergency slide.

When the airplane is on the ground in a non-emergency situation, at the gate the slides are not locked to the plane- understand? This way, the slides won’t be activated to inflate into the plane if the door is closed and then reopened.
When the plane is detached from the gateway, the flight attendants will attach the slides to the plane which also attaches a pull that will pop the slide if the door is opened in an emergency situation.
You will hear flight attendants acknowledge ‘cross check’ or ‘cross check complete’ as they check behind each other to make sure they are attached or unattached, depending on where the plane is.
To sum it up, you don’t know what you are talking about.
