Who Is to Blame for Black Poverty? Could it be that it’s not just bad Democrat policy that’s keeping that system afloat?

Politicians. Lazy people. Men that love to get some and run. Women that open their legs to those men.
The welfare state.

A friend of mine worked security for a state office building, in which there were many departments of the state - many employees.

He soon learned that a gang of 4 large black women held the controls over both office and political-culture throughout the building.

The 4 black women ran a prostitution ring - their “workers” using a nearby hotel.

The ringleaders’ power over everbody was simple:

“You either have sex with our ‘workers’ or you lose your job.”

My friend lost his job.

The State Police were *PETRIFIED* of having anything to do with the criminal activities of the 4 black women, and the State Police never did anything - about the criminal activities of the “matronizing” gang.

My friend was a young black man, physically tough, morally upright.

At another security job, he stood up against a union ringleader who was threatening employees.

My friend was fired again, and then disappeared.

The building manager who fired my friend, was later found to be, you might say, “having difficulty with being truthful.” Yet, he kept his job.

I live in a suburb just north of Seattle, and I'd say about 90% of the derelicts are white. Most of the blacks are recent immigrants with a completely different ethos than many American-born blacks. In fact, I know an immigrant from Kenya - a nurse - who is appalled by American black "culture." The immigrants usually keep their nose to the grindstone, and a lot of them work in the lower- echelons of the health care system, in nursing homes and such. But some are already beginning to move up the ladder.

As for the white derelicts in my area, most are probably addicted to drugs of one sort or another, and/or are mentally ill. Just yesterday, driving to the store in a chilly 45-degree rain, I saw a 20-something white male dressed in shorts and a t-shirt, grinning widely as he sort of hopped across the road. I think one of the consequences of the legalization of marijuana and other softening of drug laws is that the stigma of drug use and addiction is lowered or eliminated. ("It can't be wrong if it's legal.")

So people who otherwise might have avoided serious drug dependency are much more prone to become users. Even the so-called "safe" drug - marijuana - can trigger psychosis and paranoia in some, and is a huge de-motivator for productive social engagement. (I know from personal experience in my younger days.) I can't prove a connection, but it seems that the recent wave of homelessness followed on the heels of the legalization of marijuana. It also coincided with the demonization of "whiteness" in the schools and the media.

I believe my comment left room for some hope.

Not all were like I described, but I’d say about 95% were.

It’s hard to remember the good when the bad outweighed them by a long shot.

And to be clear so there isn’t room for misinterpretation, that mentality is cultural, not racial. I see the same nasty spirit of hopelessness in meth-addicts living in trailer parks.

Wasn't it actually the new Liberalism, coming out of the 60s, that shaped the world of Michael Brown? The enormously seductive power of 1960s liberalism was and is its promise to redeem and deliver us from the evils of white supremacy? This liberalism was so transformative that even many conservatives fell under its sway. Wasn't this liberalism far more focused on assuaging white guilt than on developing blacks?

Back in the 60s, we blacks made a very bad deal with America. We demanded that America help us develop. But if this was logical it also was naive. It seduced us into putting our fate right back into the hands of the same white America that had oppressed us in the first place.

We began to live by a formula. America's racial guilt was our power. White guilt became Black Power.

Of course, there was a catch. To milk white guilt we had to always be victims of white racism. White racism and black victimization became the heart and soul of liberal power in America.

I have a book entitled "The Negroes in Negroland", published in 1868. It is a compilation of journals and diaries of missionaries, explorers, merchants and slave traders of the time period. Available from Amazon.
To me, it helps to explain the behavior of a large portion of our black population.

The message of existentialism, unlike that of many more obscure and academic philosophical movements, is about as simple as can be.

It is that every one of us, as an individual, is responsible, responsible for what we do, responsible for who we are, responsible for the way we face and deal with the world, responsible, ultimately, for the way the world is.

It is, in a very short phrase, the philosophy of NO excuses!

Life may be difficult; circumstances may be impossible. There may be obstacles, not the least of which is our own personalities, characters, emotions and limited means or intelligence.

But, nevertheless, we are responsible.

We cannot shift the burden onto God, or nature, or the ways of the world. If there is a God we choose to believe [and choose not to believe]. If nature made us one way, it is up to us to decide what we are to do with what nature gave us whether to go along or fight back, to modify or transcend nature.

Walter Williams addressed this years ago while filling in for Rush. He said in the 1950’s, blacks had solid families just like whites. Then President Lyndon Johnson pushed through his war on poverty. That war basically paid men to leave their families in exchange for all sorts of government benefits.

Williams said Johnson’s War on Poverty did more damage to blacks than the KKK could have every dreamed of.

I’m 63 from Jackson Mississippi you’re preaching to the choir block it legitimately was 20% off before LBJ

Now it’s 80%

Crime in black communities was high

Which is why southern whites wanted segregation and feared giving blacks power where blacks had the numbers

Like issaquena county mississippi for example

LBJ just made a problem that had existed since emancipation worse

Much worse

The GOPe made promises too once upon a time

On the backs of my ancestors

It’s been fubar since 1860

We should have never brought them here

It’s a culture lag issue perhaps insurmountable

And it’s paralyzed our ability to deal with anything outside our founding demographic without fear of being smeared nazi or racist

A social worker explained on another thread that many, many blacks have trouble with agency.

In social science, agency is defined as the capacity of individuals to act independently and to make their own free choices. By contrast, structure are those factors of influence (such as social class, religion, gender, ethnicity, ability, customs, etc.) that determine or limit an agent and their decisions.[1] The influences from structure and agency are debated—it is unclear to what extent a person's actions are constrained by social systems.
