2nd sentence in G_W’s post #1175 is
“To me, the important thing is that members of the military have no search or arrest powers unless EXPLICITLY authorized elsewhere.”
Where else are the search or arrest powers spelled out?
Does the proposed edit to the IA change this?
I read that the proposed edit to the IA would require congressional approval to invoke the IA, whereas as it stands now, no approval is needed.

Well I tried to do that, but found that #1175 was a post by foldspace and did not have sentences per se. Maybe next time include a linky to what you posted?
LJ has already informed me I am mistaken about Insurrection Act. I did think(mistakenly it seems) that NDAA updates and Posse Comititus Act had placed requirement to get Congressional Approval.
