I’ll confess that I didn’t see this one coming. Much of the cable news programming currently blasting across our screens these days is celebrating the arrival of the first COVID vaccines approved for general distribution. People lining up to be the first in their state to receive it are hailed in the press like rock stars. But out in Southern California, there’s one group of people who are choosing to either delay taking the shot or simply declining entirely. Those are the nurses. CBS Los Angeles is reporting that a recent survey conducted by the UCLS Fielding School of Public Health reports that a full two-thirds of the nurses surveyed either said no or at least… not yet.
A number of local healthcare workers have reservations about the COVID-19 vaccine authorized for emergency use, according to a new survey from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.
“Two-thirds of the health workers that we surveyed wished to delay vaccination or not get vaccinated,” Dr. Anne Rimoin, the senior author of the study, said Monday.
She said the survey collected data from about 600 workers between mid-September and the end of October.
At least out where I live, healthcare workers are among the first being vaccinated, which kind of makes sense since so many of them are dealing with COVID patients on a daily basis. And at least based on the information being spread around by the media, you would think that these educated individuals would put the most faith in the system that developed and tested these vaccines, right? So what gives with the nurses in California?
A representative for the union covering these nurses was quick to point out that their members are not “anti-vaxxers.” 90% of them reportedly get the flu vaccine every year.

I'm not sure where this particular nonsense claim originated (I'm guessing Fakebook), but it's suddenly jumped up out of nowhere in the past week where suddenly we're all going to become sterile somehow. No one has yet explained the mechanism for how that's supposed to happen, but I'm sure somebody can come up with a convoluted explanation that doesn't make any sense, but uses lots of fascinating keywords that sound super technical.

Echoing the claims of Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Governor Cuomo, Governor Newsom, and Louis Farrakhan to attack President Trump. Nothing was rushed, regardless of how many Democrat talking points claim otherwise.

This isn't a "cold" virus. In fact, there are 4 viruses in the coronavirus family that cause symptoms that we associate with the common cold. The other three in the coronavirus family that infect humans are SARS-CoV-1, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2. They're different viruses. However, the four coronaviruses that do cause colds only account for about 12-20% of colds. 40% are from a rhinovirus. In fact, there are over 200 different viruses that cause the symptoms known as the "common cold".
This vaccine is for SARS-CoV-2. Not for 229E. Nor NL63. Nor OC43. Not HKU1.
Nobody is demanding immunity from lawsuits. The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act was passed by Congress in 1986 when anti-vaxxers tried to launch enough nuisance suits with nonsense claims against vaccine companies to run them out of business.
Rather than sit by and watch polio and whooping cough reappear, Congress decided that the best approach was to separate the two parties with the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.
Nobody is demanding any protection today. They got protection 34 years ago when anti-vaxxers tried to take vaccines away from the rest of us by wielding the legal system as a sword to kill the vaccine makers.
There is ZERO way in hell I am getting this vaccine.
Sorry, I’m going to need a citation from an actual source, please. This person clearly has no idea what she’s talking about. She’s talking about “modified DNA” and such, which is grossly inaccurate.
Published studies, news articles; heck, I’ll take a New York Times piece on the subject if you’ve got it. At least that I can use to track down an actual reliable source. Best I can tell, this person is making these claims up on the spot.
They’ve already announced they are censoring reports of harm from the vaccine. All conspiracy theories, they’ve already determined.

and the charge is that previous challenge studies with this technology in animals proved fatal due to over-reaction of the immune system.
Oh.. and your AP source countering “no animal testing” does not address challenge studies.
Challenge studies take a LOT of time.
The time in which this has been developed is evidence in and of itself that proper studies have NOT been conducted.

Appeal to authority is a logical fallacy. Especially when the authority is a geezer politician from either party sport. And the potential mechanism of female infertility has been widely described, and yet, you seem to have never read it. Educate yourself.

So I’m certain they tested the subjects with the ultra reliable COVID testing we are so familiar with and then didn’t use any political bias or subjectivity when they checked the box to say the symptoms “weren’t really that bad I promise.”

This whole covid politicization has been a nitemare..it leaves me so angry and irritable...i probably will try to avoid covid threads like i now avoid any covid news.

Yeah, they see first hand what kind of patients are in the ICU on a vent. For the most part it's people in their 80's who came from a nursing home, have been on a feeding tube, or are obese and dealing with multiple health issues. It's not the average person who gets the virus.
Those health care workers that care for elderly are free to not to take the vaccine and they are also free to work somewhere else. Viva the Trump vaccine!!

At my last reading, not a single D in the TX state legislature supports conscience exemptions to vaccines. NOT ONE.
On the other hand, virtually every conservative Republican endorsed by Texans for Vaccine Choice prevailed in 2020. And we are still a majority in the Texas state house.
It is the far left that believes that we should not be able to leave our homes until the population is vaccinated. Bill Gates says that, also, IIRC. And he also wants population reduced, and he’s pro-abortion. Nice allies you have. See, we can smear as well.
I’m not a nurse, but I’m smart enough to realize they’ve got to work the bugs out first. Some of the publicized side effects are such that any reasonable man would hesitate.
4 docs in my family. 2 of us have had it already, I’m getting mine tomorrow. My husband who is now retired will have to wait as he is no longer in the priority pool.
Yup. I’m just imagining all those people in the hospital and ICU I treat every day.
