My gut and from watching the derp comms is that this is very complicated and part inside job, part china, part trap of the DS, and now the media is spinning it as Russia to make a narrative to put a wedge between America and Russia and take the focus off China. What has the Dept. of State been tweeting all day? CHINA NOT RUSSIA. Though the Russians may have hedged their bets, this was China.
I have no doubt it was China. If Russia had to pick a side, they would pick to side with USA—China wants their land too, I think.
However, Putin is always hedging their bets. And he is also on the record-if a country is sure they will be attacked, then that country should strike first. —pretty sure he means it.
