Husband Stationed at Ft. Riley Kansas in 67, Was the thing to do Fish for Carp and sell downtown on poor side of Town. Gave them Spending Money towards end of Month.
How cool, thanks for sharing. My late mom used to talk about collecting and returning deposit bottles walking for money on the way to a movie.
Deposit bottles were JUST still around for a few years in my youth, but not worth anything more than a candy bar or two.
I fished in a creek in Manhattan Ks.,in 88 and 89, the creek would overflow into fields and landlocked the carp. Crazy fun chasing them in 1ft or less of water and trying to catch them. Had a good ole boy soldier buddy from Louisiana and he made us some spears to spear them, after a (few) beers or course.
