Earlier that day, members of the GA Senate said they were in touch with the GBI to investigate (it was in their petition to call a special session). That night, the SOS made a statement that HE called for an investigation. So he definitely tried to get ahead of being investigated himself.

He and Kemp are trying so hard to cover this up it is almost comical if it weren’t so serious.
Back when the SOS contracted for Dominion, against the protests of many (he was sued by the left and right alike over the insecurity issues). He made a bunch of statements how it was so secure. He said that images of the ballots could be available to anyone. So many have asked, and he’s not letting anyone look at anything as we all know. The recounts, pretend audit, all a dog and pony show.
