Well, these answers are just about as entertaining as if you’d posted 57 years.

I still encourage you to re-post with 57 years. I would be fun to see the answers. Might reword the title a bit to distinguish - Something like,

I was a 4th grader. I had gone to the lounge to get my teacher’s afternoon drink. When I got back I told her that the President was assassinated. She asked if I was making it up. I said no. She teared up, told us to stay in the classroom and ran over to confirm.

Fast forward to about 1990. I met Jack Ruby’s attorney in Dallas. Got to go to his office and see the suit and hat he was wearing the day he killed Oswald!!!

I was in 6th grade, Miss Lyon's class - she was a chain smoking spinster who hated children, wore a bad wig and put her lipstick on with a paint roller.
The principal's secretary came in, whispered something to the teacher and returned with a radio - some girls were crying at the news and were admonished by that rotten hag of a teacher for doing so.
She must have voted for Nixon.

In 1963 on this date when I was 20 years old, I was in the Bay Of Florida salvaging a U2 plane that Castro/Soviets shot down.

When the announcement was made that JFK had been shot we were sure we were going to war with USSR.

OH? THAT 11/22. My Buddy ‘Turk’ and I were just driving back into the school parking lot from Lionels Burger stand on Central in ABQ and heard it on the radio. We hurried inside and started telling people. Nobody believed us at first. Then the PA announcement.
