What to do when an ovarian cyst really starts to hurt?

Hello,

I'm a 58 year-old woman who has been diagnosed with two ovarian cysts.

The cysts have apparently grown quite a bit, and for the last two days, the one on my left side has been quite painful. Do I need to go to the hospital? With the waiting times up here?

I should tell you that thanks to my depression after being forced to leave Colorado and move up here, I began drinking, so much that I have cirrhosis of the liver.

The doctor told me that the anesthesia involved in removing it may cause "cognitive problems." In other words, as far as I understand it, I will become somewhat stupid. I don't like that idea; I'm a writer, editor and researcher and I kind of need my brain for that.

On the other hand, the pain is not going away. I even took a Tylenol, which I'm really not supposed to have.

My husband will take me to the hospital, but I do need to pack; I'm sure that I'll be there overnight.

I've been using ice packs and that gel that you put on injuries, like icy/hot.

I don't want to go to the hospital, but last night I hardly got any sleep because of the pain.

I will return to this thread, but I would ask that you bear with me; I may just have to call a taxi and get over there and I don't know if they have wifi.

Are there any natural remedies I could take? I have apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, honey and I could ask my husband to bring something else (although he really doesn't like to go shopping these days, what with the stupid Covid and all).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Medical treatments for ovarian cysts include: Hormonal birth control pills to regulate the hormones and reduce the risk of developing more cysts. Metformin to increase insulin sensitivity in women with PCOS. Surgically removing the cyst, using a small incision in the navel or stomach.

Not to be trifled with or self treated with hope and internet bullshit. Go to the hospital.

Apple cider and lemon juice???? That cyst can rupture and cause internal bleeding.

Call you doctor and follow the guidance provided. Cysts rarely, but sometimes do rupture. Such an occurrence can mean anything from urgent to emergency care.

You have an acute condition that could threaten your life.

This is not a time for a home remedy. There are plenty of other occasions to consider them.

Ovarian cysts usually affect me striating women and are also called lei teal phase cysts. Given your age and diagnosis and progression you need to get either your doc on the phone ASAP or head to hospital ER

Prayers and blessings to you.

Proud American

Please go to the hospital asap. Don’t do what a friend’s aunt did years ago. She was having a heart attack but wouldn’t go until she got into her girdle.

Let the professionals figure out what’s going on and what to do about it. How do you know it’s not your appendix?

I’m going to suggest getting to a doctor or hospital, but... Have you tried a hot towel or hot water bottle? Not too hot, of course. Only comfortable-hot. Avoid burns.

Get to the hospital and if they say stay, stay if you don’t go you might not wake up tomorrow.
