There’s been a lot of speculation that Lashana Lynch’s No Time To Die character, MI6 agent Nomi, would be Bond’s replacement as 007 – and now the star herself has confirmed the news.
Though Nomi had previously been confirmed as a 00 agent, we finally know for certain that she’ll be taking up James Bond’s old mantle, with Bond himself retired at the beginning of the film.
Speaking about the role during an interview with Harpers Bazaar, the Captain Marvel star revealed the news and addressed the online abuse she faced when the rumours first surfaced earlier this year.
“I am one Black woman – if it were another Black woman cast in the role, it would have been the same conversation, she would have got the same attacks, the same abuse,” she said.
“I just have to remind myself that the conversation is happening and that I’m a part of something that will be very, very revolutionary.”
So a black chick to replace the male chauvinist macho Bond character Dudes for generations have been going to see Bond because they want to be him, not be some black chick. Greatest marketing idea since the New Coke fiasco. What rocket scientist came up with this brainstorm to kill off the franchise?

Oh, well, it’s decades since I watched any Bond movie anyway, so it’s not going to affect my life very much.

A black woman being a spy? That’ll fly in terrorist circles. It’s just a show, so realism need not apply.
I don’t even watch much anymore. Too many entertainers have ruined it.
I’m not a fan of this franchise, but “retiring James Bond” doesn’t sound like the brightest of ideas.
And that’s what people are upset about - not that she’s a “black woman.”
I would had liked to see Idris Elba as 007. But the time to cast him was probably 5 years ago. Now he’s getting older so that ship has sailed.
Here’s a thought. Retire the franchise ( and 007 ) and try and reboot with non Bond characters. I guess they feel that the new characters and story lines are to weak to stand on their own merits. I can’t see Bond as any woman.

Of course. God forbid that a franchise that was dreamed up by a white British male featuring a white British male protagonist is allowed to cause so much angst among the snowflakes. So, let’s make her a black female, to ‘empower’ the female minority contingent, and screw the core demographic who made James Bond, James Bond. It’s gonna bomb like a 500 pounder down a Dresden smokestack. Same with the new Battlestar Galactica remake (again) - Starbuck was originally a cigar-chomping, womanizing white male with a penchant for gambling. Then they made her a tough chick. Now, they say they’re casting a ‘non-binary’ black woman in the role (READ: a black dyke). Liberals steal then destroy everything they can put their grubby hands on.
