Another pound gone! Probably from all the activity the last few days, but one thing is sure: I’m paying for it the activity.
Of course I didn’t sleep well last night. I’m pretty sure it was the pain, but sometimes, that’s hard to pinpoint. It seems to be all over my body.
I don’t really feel up to going to church, but it seems I forget to turn on the link to watch the services from home. That always frustrates me.
It’s not going to be very warm today, so I’ll still wear something wintry, though not too heavy. It’s probably the last time, though I always have a shawl or a light knit coat.
I really do like the footlocker! I thought it was black but it’s steel gray and very pretty. I sent a note to the seller about the wonky wheel but I haven’t heard from him yet. Maybe tomorrow.
It didn’t rain last night, fortunately for Jake, and it was moderately rather than terribly cold. He’s on the sofa on a blanket in a ball right now.
We had a good evening. Tom was over, and we watched “The Odd Couple” and laughed a great deal.
Laughing is good for the soul and the blood pressure.
That’s why I’ve invested, one at a time, in the first six seasons of “Death In Paradise.” The first two years, with Ben Miller, are the funniest, but after the Irishman came in, it lost most of it’s allure. I understand, though, that Ben Miller is coming back for the 10th season, so I’ll have to keep an eye on that.
I just listened to the wind try to blow the roof off, yesterday, and today, the chimes are at it again, reminding me of why this place got its name.
Speaking of wind, the two mulberry trees between this building and the next one are both going to be taken out soon. Good, because not only are they a safety issue, but their roots have killed the lawn. It’s always muddy in that corner.
Pleased to know about the mulberry tree removal.
How is the first guy coming back? Isn’t the character dead?
I think the Irish guy is charming, but I agree that the amusement value has declined. The young woman constable, the Commissioner’s niece, is way overdone, and the new sergeant is no fun at all.
Yes, but somehow, it’s in the script, so I’m not going to argue. It’s a cameo appearance and that could mean anything. Also, his “love-hate” interest is coming back in the same episode. So is her “mother.” I think not permanently for either woman.
I guess the lesson here is that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The commissioner’s over-the-top niece is leaving with the new sergeant in the last episode of Season 9, so that should improve the humor aspect. Sergeant Florence Cassell is coming back, evidently on a permanent basis but JP Hooper is leaving at the end of episode 8, season 9.
I think the amusement value dropped because there was no actual chemistry between the actors. In a series like this, that chemistry is vital to keep the interest of the viewers.
Excellent point. I like Florence, but losing J.P. is disappointing. He’s a sweet young man.
I liked Fidel. He was also in a George Gently episode concerning racial tensions in the late ‘60s. The “angry young black man.” He’s quite a versatile actor.
I don’t know who will be JP’s replacement, but I hope he’s good. He’s got big shoes to fill.
I liked Fidel, too. All the uniformed guys have been good characters and appealing performers.
Dwayne is the one I consistently miss. I heard him speak in his British accent, and not the “Island guy,” and it was a real shock! I hated when he ran of with his “dad.”
Yes, that was a nonsequitur. I guess the actor was ready to move on.
Wellnow. It looks like he left to go back to the stage, but may be coming back with Florence Cassels in Season 10!
And now, I have to get ready to head out the door.
See ya when I get back!
I hope you have a great time. We’ll be leaving at noon our time.
It was nice except that I didn’t know the password and couldn’t unlock the music for the hymns. They came up on my phone just fine, but not on the tablet. So I decided to just dig out my old hymnbook and couldn’t find it.
I just ordered another one...cheap.
Anyway, I decided the stress of trying to find the hymns electronically isn’t worth the way I feel by the time Sacrament comes around, so I won’t be using electronics in church any more.
OK, since you asked the question about the first DI coming back, I thought it didn’t make sense (again) so checked in another spot. It’s the second one that’s coming back — DI Humphrey Goodman. He was good, but my favorite will always be Ben Miller/Richard Poole!
Okay, that makes much more sense! The first guy was super dead!
Back from church, everything went fine. Our friend Walter who had a stroke last Sunday is improving, his sister-in-law said.
I’m glad your friend Walter is improving. That’s always good news.
There was a woman in church who had recovered from Covid, even though they did everything to avoid it including staying home and not socializing, even with family. Anyway, I heard a noise from behind me and turned around to look (which I don’t normally do) and found her looking at me. Musta been my Kermit mask. She was wearing thong sandals and had bright green toenails. In honor of St Pat’s Day? It was a strange encounter, and I think I won’t turn to look no matter what the distraction in the future! LOL!
I’m either going to go back to bed for a short nap or take a short nap when I get done with the laundry. I hate this.
Boy, do I need those floofs!
Good morning.
I think I slept about another 90 minutes, but it wasn’t nearly long enough. I may go try for another hour, soon.
There is one place I need to go today, but before I do that, I think I’ll try to get a package ready to take to the post office on my way. Even though it isn’t really...on my way, that is. But getting rid of one more container counts!
Good morning, all. Happy Monday. I hope you are all enjoying spring as much as the kittehs are.
It’s warmer here than it was this time last year.
I hope you get the necessary sleeps! I’m a little tired this morning, too, but there’s nothing on the calendar to preclude naptime after lunch.
