The Supreme Court has cleared a path for the Trump administration to exclude undocumented immigrants from representation, potentially altering the balance of power in Congress for the next 10 years.
The court Tuesday cut short the census count by two weeks, which census experts and civil rights advocates say risks producing a less accurate count. Then on Friday, the court said it would review President Trumps efforts to omit unauthorized immigrants when apportioning congressional seats. That decision overturned a lower courts order that had blocked the Commerce Department and Census Bureau from including information about the undocumented when they deliver state population counts to the White House after the census is completed. The justices said they will hold a hearing Nov. 30.
The government has said it ended the count early to provide state population totals to Trump by the statutory deadline of Dec. 31, even though it had originally asked for a four-month extension because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Moving up the end date set off a wave of litigation from civil rights advocates who argued that it would cause an undercount of traditionally hard-to-count populations such as minorities, immigrants and low-income people, depriving them of services such as schools, roads, fire stations and hospitals, along with political representation. Businesses and analysts also rely on census data when deciding where to open new locations or make policy recommendations based on population numbers.
The purpose for the rush appears to be political. Meeting the Dec. 31 deadline helps ensure that regardless of Novembers election outcome, the president will have an opportunity to fulfill a July memorandum in which he said he wanted to omit the undocumented from apportionment.

“...potentially altering the balance of power in Congress for the next 10 years.”
The Supreme Court will have to decide who gets represented in Congress — illegals or American citizens.
If the Court rules that undocumented get counted in the census, then California, for example, will get an increased number of representatives in Congress, and American citizens in other states will lose their representatives in Congress, and will become disenfranchised.
Of course, it is a no-brainer, but who knows?
Illegals have not always been counted
“the Constitution says to include all people in the census and says nothing as to whether illegals should or should not be”
It is hardly surprising that the US Constitution didn’t discuss illegal immigrants. At the time of the US Constitution, there was no such thing as an illegal immigrant. The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 was the first time the US restricted any immigration. Before then, “illegal immigrants” did not exist.
Just an excuse for the Dems to say they have been counted now their vote counts.
Can see this coming already.
But we can't "see" illegals cuz they never came in legally...just like their children.
The Courts have already ruled that "illegal" children are entitled to an education thru 12th grade.
They will be counted...they live here....there is no "status" attached to the Constitution in this regard.
Cuz they’re not residents....duh...
On the other hand, I mailed in my census form skipping the race and ethnic questions again but they never called or visited to correct my oversight. Maybe they just figured it was the same as the last time I refused and filled it out for me.
I LOVE your change.
“undocumented”.
So the census will just be one more document they don’t have.
This is a lie for TWO reasons:
1) The respondents were getting sick of the enumerators to the point that the enumerators were in danger.
2) The garbage software package that the Census was using (FDC- Field Data Capture) was actually a major source of under-counting.
As usual, the Washingsnot Pest lies like a rug.
Yeah, that was a three-judge panel from the Second Circuit, appealed from SD New York.
Richard C. Wesley [Dubya judge], United States Circuit Judge
Peter W. Hall [Dubya judge], United States Circuit Judge
Jesse M. Furman [Odiousbama "judge"], United States District Judge
Two globalist Bush judges and a ClownBammy judge...
Yes - they threw the Non-Response Follow-Up enumerators into the deep end of the pool without sufficient training because of Da Covid.
It actually took ME 4-5 days to get my NRFU enumerating down pat - and I was a supervisor in the 2010 Census...
