I joined during the 2000 election endless recount circus. And it looks like we’re in for another chaotic mess of an election this year.
Let’s see how many 20+ FR veterans I can get to respond!
Since 1998. Can’t be that long! Means I’m long in the tooth LOL. Free Republic is an island of sanity in an insane world.
And I beat my mamma who went by mntwmn by a month. Mountain Woman God rest her soul who passed in 2014. She was hell on wheels.

22 years this past January.
a lot of Y2K people here. wuz here when hillary’s lover’s body was found in ft marcy park along the GW beltway. wuz here as the subsequent Clinton body count rose. talked with alamo_girl about things political and esoteric—a sharp sharp woman. Helped push republican legislators to watch the vote count in broward country in y2k. went to a freeper inauguration party in DC. Lost a year of my life in 2009 trying to figure out where Obama was born. Pushed the Dan Rather story when the typing was shown to be false. imho people should notice that stories that are posted here become national news and even administration policy days weeks and months later. This is a good place to hang out.
I’m bad with math. A calculator in my hands is a deadly weapon. But isn’t 10/14/1999 twenty-one years ago, not twenty-two? Regardless, congrats and thanks!!!
I’m cheating - 5 weeks short. Joined during Bush v. Gore.
FR has been a haven, so to speak. Not perfect, leaks in the roof, and plumbing gets occasionally backed up. But [mostly] good folk here.
What has impressed me most - is we’re from all walks of life - and a smart bunch.
