John McCain's mother has died at the of age 108, it was announced Monday.
John's wife Cindy tweeted: 'It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my wonderful Mother In-law, Roberta McCain.
'I couldn’t have asked for a better role model or a better friend. She joins her husband Jack, her son John and daughter Sandy.'

The death was mentioned just now on the Howie Carr radio show. They have a death pool and someone picked her so there will be a new death pool (soon; I would doubt it’s today).
Howie Carr himself is the son of a man who lived to be over 100. Howard Louis “Del” Carr Sr died at 103. ((1905–2008).
The trick, my FRiend, is to have hobbies that demand a tomorrow.

Wow! 108! A century and then some of amazing changes, accomplishments, and history! Rest in peace.
My wife’s maternal great grandfather died at about the same age. Since they’re from Mexico, the record keeping leaves something to be desired. When he died, they tested his natural teeth and bones, and was estimated to be over 110 years of age. All the people in her family live to be very, very old. Must be all the tortillas. It’s all they eat, day in, day out
Imagine the wonders she saw. Early motorcars and airplanes. The telephone to the Internet.
Seeing a ship named after your husband. (again, we’ll skip her son running for POTUS)
Being a military wife and having your son in a Hanoi prison camp for a number of years, having him dump his wife, can not have always been easy.
Today I visited a 93yo and was told I looked like I was on vacation (unshaven for a few days).
108 is a good run. May she rest in peace.
