The NBAs viewership woes have been discussed ad nauseam over the past few months. By now, everyone knows that this years ratings have sunk by more than 50 percent.
It is no secret that Games 2 and 3 between the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, which did 6.1 million viewers and 5.9 million viewers, respectively, touched all-time lows.
But the one thing the NBA has been hanging its hat on throughout is who has been watching. Young people, folks in major metropolitan cities, individuals in the key demo that is who the league has been selling as its core.
Interestingly enough, that audience is way down for the NBA as well.

I’m sure plenty in China are watching.
younger people are not interested in pro sports generally....
This seems to be the case. Most get together for pro sporting events at someone's home or a sports bar to socialize. Many have little clue as to the athletes, unlike past generations who could quote you stats and specific games going back decades. The "fanatical" part of being a fan is slowly waning with each generation.
Not a single word about burnlootmurder and wokeness.
But they make up for their blindness with bad grammar. As with so many illiterates the author uses “less people” instead of “fewer people.”
NBA and its extreme WOKENESS should have soaring ratings if Biden’s poll numbers are real.
Kids watch kids pkaying video games. Live sports are just too slow, even NBA where no one can dribble, shoot or block.
Schadenfreude can be delicious.
I remember getting into an argument with a sheboon baller who didnt like the local uni after they flunked her azz, and wanted the N-Bees to come so she could have a hamlock payday. Got an order to layoff 3 months later and she was top of the list...
I agree based on my experience. In recent years going to ball games I see groups of people , they aren’t even watching the game. They are talking and taking selfies. Its a social event to them, and the game is secondary.
When I was younger one of the fun parts of going to ball games was talking baseball with your neighbor. People next to me at the game nowadays seems not to know much about the game.

I think they properly see them as ‘commercial sports’.
Hopefully is way down with old and middle aged people too.
I know THIS old guy will never watch it again nor buy any of their licensed crap.
“horse racing ratings are down...”
On the major TV networks based on the rescheduling of events such as the Preakness and Derby but handles across North America are zooming. Even smaller tracks (Canterbury in Minnesota for instance at $68 million) have seen increased and even record-setting numbers. In September 2020, over $1 billion was bet on tracks in North america which was a 30% increase from Sept. 2019. Betting on the Preakness was cut in half from the record set in 2019 ($99 million) but that was in part due to the absence of 120,000 spectators.

A few weeks back some Marxist NBA water carrying Writer wrote up an article stating just that. Dismissed the tanking USA ratings because viewership was up in Europe/Asia CLOWN!
A most excellent point.
Is there a bigger d-bag in America than Mark Cuban?
