Joe Biden had every one of these questions ahead of time! It’s beyond obvious and Chris Wallace was despicable as a moderator.
Took out my copy of 1984 and placed it next to my bible and constitution.
You can’t debate a man like Biden who has no respect for truth or facts. Biden can talk political shop & it is insincere.
Wallace was horrific & biased. It would have been better to get a high school debate teacher to moderate. Wallace allowed Biden to not answer questions.
The law and order question was obviously practiced since Trump made his answer irrelevant. He was given the questions and thought it was interesting Wallace made sure nobody had the questions to start.
Biden either had the questions in advance or standard answers written out. He was reading from notes a couple times his lips were moving as he looked down to read.
He had a pen in his right hand checking off what he had used. Whenever he wasn’t laughing and flashing that weird smile he was looking down at the notes. At the end just after Jill went on stage to collect him an aide rushed over to the podium and picked up what looked like a spiral notebook. (Old fashioned paper notebook) It looked light brown. I watched on Fox News as she walked off stage with it.
Biden spent a LOT of time reading from his podium - Trump spoke off the cuff...
There is nothing on the podium.
I hear this every debate—going back to Bush the first.
The Dem ALWAYS cheats and the Republican always has to struggle.
At some point, Republicans will stop being surprised at how ineffective our folks are at these debates. I don’t know why—the correct answers are not difficult to come up with. With a little practice, he could have put Biden down, once and for all...but he didnt. Just as Bush, Dole, Bush, McCain, Romney, and Trump have failed to do in the past.
Why don’t our guys want to practice? I never understood that. Maybe there is a business opportunity here for someone.
Reagan flopped in his first debate with Mondale in 1984. People were even then starting to wonder about Reagan’s mental state after it. Of course, Reagan pulled it together for the last two debates, and the rest is history.
Point being, first debates rarely go well for sitting Presidents.
OK - but Biden spent a LOT of time staring at that podium - and was holding a pen in his left hand for much of the deal.
Yet didn't write a damn thing, maybe he forgot the pen was in his hand and was wondering where it was.
Yes there was. There is a video of a female staffer picking it up after Biden walks away. It may just be papers, or it may be a tablet.
