There was a small bird that made a nest under the aluminum awning over that door. I think the snake was after the eggs or the baby birds. After the baby birds were gone (or eaten) I tore the nest down. We have an old fashioned awning over both external doors that the birds like to shelter under. That’s the reason for the snake, I think. No more snakes since no more bird’s nest.
