Yes. I took a good guess at DOZD, which gave me the authors name, et voila. Much easier than it would seem.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

I guessed at the author but had misremembered his initials, so I had to do it the hard way.
