This is emblematic, and is exactly what the Left wants. As in Orwell’s 1984, they want people to self-regulate their “thoughtcrime”. Don’t even need to bring the state into it.

I was in Northern Maine last month for a week, and it was great-no Black Lives Matter, No Hate Here, In This House or even any Biden signs. People did or didn’t wear masks, and nobody cared.

When we drove south, we came to a city which I used to like (Belfast) and as you got close to the town, all those signs above started to appear, as did the masks and dirty looks.

My wife wanted to go shopping, but since this whole mask thing started, I don’t even want to be around people, so while she shopped, I took a folding chair and a book and set up shop in a grassy park near the waterfront, about 10 yards from a walking trail and nobody within 20 yards of me.

Reading my book, two women walked by, ten yards away on the walking path, and one of them shouted “You should be wearing a mask!”

All I could do was shake my head.

Then, when I packed up and went to where my wife had the car, I was loading my car and someone asked me (because of my Navy cap) “Are you military?” and when I turned and said yes, ex-Navy, the fat guy with his morbidly obese wife said “If you were in the military, why do you own a Japanese car?” after which she piped in.

I was so steaming mad I could barely speak for several hours.

Point is, this asinine mask BS pushed by the Left seems to have emboldened people to stick their uninvited and unwanted stinking noses into all areas of other people’s lives.

I have gotten to the point I barely want to even go out into public places. Seeing the sheep-like stupidity of my fellow Americans is disheartening and dispiriting, and having them stick their effing noses into my business really makes me want to tear into people to whom I likely wouldn’t even have given a thought to in the past.

With you on your sentiments, and recently had a similar experience. After being in business for five years, then closing, then opening (with masks) and then being told to close again, I was getting a haircut at a local downtown barbershop. The storefront windows were covered in butcher paper to conceal the horrible things going on inside, except for a little area left uncovered. Various plants were placed there for light. Mid cut, a woman’s face appeared in the uncovered pane, followed by an insistent rap. One of the barbers, a woman, went out to see what the deal was. “ARE YOU CUTTING HAIR IN THERE???!!! YOU CAN’T CUT HAIR! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?!!!!” The barber replied, “Well, I need money to feed myself and my son, and I need to pay my rent so we have a place to live. I’ve got to get back to work now. Have a good day.” Saw the woman on her cell phone a few minutes later pacing outside the shop when I left. I feel fairly certain she was desperate to find some “official” to come down t stage a “raid” and arrest everyone in the place. Good God.

“Seeing the sheep-like stupidity of my fellow Americans is disheartening and dispiriting...”

Well indoctrinated sheeples from many decades as captive young audiences in pubic schools and colleges. As planned; see Frankfurt School (of cultural Marxism).

My fun: While in a store with all in masks (MI), I let out nice sheep bleats as I wander. Usually when alone in an aisle. Also in my car with a window down.

“Bah ah ah ah ah!”

“Bah ah ah ah ah!”

“Bah ah ah ah ah!”

“Bah ah ah ah ah!”

I was harassed at my local Giant Foods store on Saturday becuase my nose was ‘exposed’. I was in the store for barely 5 minutes, when a blowhard customer (in his 70s, white male) approached ME to tell me to pull up my mask because my “nose is exposed”. I proceeded to tell him: “Mind your own business! Stay 6-feet away from me and you’ll be okay!” His wife was near him and she seemed to be egging him on, so he kept saying things like: “You’re going to get everyone sick!”, to which I replied, even louder: “Sir, stay 6-feet away from me and worry about your own mask. Go F*ck Off Now & mind your own f*cking business!”

At this point, a crowd had gathered. Many were wondering what was going on since I technically had a mask on. The asshole kept mumbling the same stuff over & over and I told him to “F*ck Off!” twice while moving to another aisle. The man proceeded to FOLLOW ME TO EVERY AISLE IN THE STORE. I did not feel the need to call management to let them know of this harassment as I thought I had already “neutralized” the motherf*cker & was in no way intimidated by him. He mumbled something to me in the coffee aisle, to which I told him to stay 6-feet away from me. I also told him to “F*ck Off!” again so loudly that the Pepsi guy came over to the aisle from the next one to see what was going on. I told him that everything’s cool - just a blowhard talking about my mask. The Pepsi guy was laughing his ass off & shaking his head.

In the meat section, I saw him hiding behind a display, and I was wondering if he was getting ready to take a photo of me, but his hands were empty. I did have my coffee mug with me and, while he was looking, I TOOK OFF MY ENTIRE MASK AND ENJOYED 3 HUGE GULPS OF COFFEE IN FRONT OF HIM. This sent him over the edge. He sprinted up the aisle, and I thought he was going to complain to management (at this point, I was “guns blazing” and didn’t give a shit), so I got ready for that prospect. Nothing happened, but the bum followed me to the frozen foods section all the way to the cash register. There, he hid in an aisle and came up through another side. I saw his maneuver and waved at him profusely saying: “Hi, I’m still here! Have a great day!”, while pulling down my mask to get another huge gulp of coffee.

I told the lady at the cash register (whom I’ve known for 15 years) and she was mortified. She asked me to speak to the manager, which I did. Giant Management says that no customers should approach other customers about their masks & that it was wrong of him to approach me. I walked to the parking lot thinking that this man probably makes it his mission in life to harass people. I only wish I would’ve been able to say: “TRUMP 2020, BITCHES!!”

I see a lady in the store without a mask, I simply assume that she might have some health problem that could make it difficult for her to wear one, and then I go on with my life.

Of course, in my town, nobody else seems to have a problem with the occasional non-mask-wearer, either.
