The accused operator of this Omaha-based prostitution ring was Lawrence E. King, general manager of the Franklin Federal Credit Union.

Known for extravagant personal spending and throwing $100,000 parties, in April 1988 the FBI raided his bank and charged King with embezzling nearly $40 million.
But financial fraud was the least obscene thing about King. Six young adults—including Bonacci—came forward saying that as teenagers they had been forced into prostitution by King, and flown to Chicago, New York, Washington D.C. and other cities to participate in pedophilic orgies. Alleged attendees at these gatherings included some of the wealthiest and influential figures in Nebraska, including men prominent in industry, politics, the media, and police.
A state senate committee formed in November to investigate both Lawrence E. King’s financial dealings and the allegations of sex trafficking. The claims originated in the foster care system where a social worker’s report on victim’s stories had been forwarded to authorities but was ignored.

The senate committee hired private investigator Gary Caradori to separate wheat from chaff and compile evidence. Caradori, a former state trooper, drew up a leads list of sixty potential victims and conducted videotaped interviews that added up to twenty-one hours of testimony. In July 1990, while allegedly in possession of photographs taken at King’s sex parties, Caradori’s small plane inexplicably disintegrated mid-air over Illinois. He and his eight-year-old son were killed, and his briefcase was never found.
An atmosphere of pressure, including Caradori’s suspicious death, anonymous threats to the victims, and intimidation applied by the feds led four of the six witnesses to retract their stories.

The tentacles of child trafficking/sex abuse slither into all levels of wealth and govt. We need to keep our eyes on the prize here. A win for Trump is integral to keeping the momentum from being swept back under the rug. Where you find political and financial corruption you will also find these perverts to some degree. The good thing about focusing on the sex trafficking is that it can’t be argued away like you can other forms of corruption. Only the most degraded sick individuals will defend it.

King was a prominent Republican during the Reagan era, too. Evil people are in the halls of power from both parties.
The justice department has been making progress in prosecuting and stopping these types of crimes. Under the last 3 administrations (yes, including under G.W.) very little was being done. Probably not much even under Bush senior and Reagan, although it was Clinton who appointed an attorney general who quit enforcing obscenity laws.
