When he was coaching at Long Beach in 1970 he had a game with UNLV and the Long Beach freshman team could mot make it. Jerry called John Chambers who coached with him at Riverside community college and asked him to get together a team to play the UNLV freshman, team.
John got 10 of us to drive to Vegas, and were up all night in the casinos, played the game the next day.
Jerry came in the locker room and seeing we had a long night passed out stimulants to those of us wanting them.
Lost the game although it was close at halftime, we ran out of gas in the 2nd half.
