Lindsey Graham: 'QAnon is bats--- crazy'

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) called the QAnon conspiracy theory that has been spread by some Republican congressional candidates “batshit crazy.”

“Well, QAnon is batshit crazy,” Graham told Snapchat's Peter Hamby in an interview that aired Thursday.

“Crazy stuff. Inspiring people to violence. I think it is a platform that plays off people’s fears, that compels them to do things they normally wouldn’t do. And it’s very much a threat.”

Once a fringe movement, the QAnon conspiracy has gained traction in recent years, with some congressional candidates expressing support of its claims.

The theory suggests that Trump and his allies are trying to uncover a group of Democrats, media figures and celebrities who are operating an international child sex trafficking scheme.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has previously endorsed the theory, won the Republican primary in Georgia's 14th District earlier this month, leading GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) to demand leaders denounce the movement.

Greene has since distanced herself from theory, which the FBI has labeled as a potential domestic terrorism threat.

Graham suggested repealing the protections offered to social media platforms under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which shields platforms from facing liability for the content posted by its users and the good-faith efforts they make to moderate it.

QAnon is not itself a social media site, but its supporters gather on multiple social media platforms, though Twitter and Facebook have made efforts to remove them.

Graham pointed to "Pizzagate," a related conspiracy theory that claims Hillary Clinton and other top Democratic figures were running a child sex trafficking ring beneath a pizza shop in Washington, D.C. In December 2016, a man fired a gun in the Comet Ping Pong pizza shop in D.C., claiming he was there to “self-investigate" the claims.

“But the pizza owner, under my theory, could sue QAnon for passing along garbage. That’s a pretty dramatic step,” Graham said. “But the only way I know to make people more responsible who run these websites is to allow lawsuits when they go too far.”

Two family members, one in MA and the other in SC.

The one in MA was a member of the WH Press Corp ten years ago but got out in 2011 because he missed MA and living in DC was not easy to adjust to. I asked him how did he like being a reporter in DC. He said it was difficult to get a pol to stop and answer questions. He said most pols would keep on walking and decline to interview before reporters, only a few would. Ms. Lindsey was one of those that would. She would chase a camera and a reporter. My relative said it was easy to get Graham to go on and on about things.

Lindsey is an attention seeker.

A family member in SC has never met Graham, but doesn’t like him. Family member is not a Democrat but would welcome a suitable replacement for Graham.

Establishment in SC keep Graham in his seat. Voters are not in admiration of him.

So, you are saying Q is nuts? I am OK with that. Don’t really care.

But its the Q followers that post crazy shit. Not Q.

“Q was telling us about Kevin Clinesmith for well over a year now”

Got a link to prove that?

“But its the Q followers that post crazy shit. Not Q.”

I reject that assessment. The crazy rolls downhill.

I have a neutral and unbiased opinion about Q and the folks here at FR.

In my opinion, the Freepers that are part of Q are unusually patriotic and well sourced with information.

I’m not sure I buy into the Q source as the lack of results relative to the early posting of Q don’t match up.

But followers of Q are hardly crazy. I find them to be true patriots and join them in truly HOPING that the Q movement is real.

When I point out Lindsey’s obvious mole activities - the Q Anon peeps attack me over and over.

As they did with Sessions and Huber before that.

Trust Sessions went on forever - Huber secretly indicted 66,000 people went on for a year,

“Crazy stuff. Inspiring people to violence. I think it is a platform that plays off people’s fears, that compels them to do things they normally wouldn’t do. And it’s very much a threat.”

~~~
I call double standard.
I have never been for or about Qanon, and I will admit that I avoided even delving into it ( so I’m not fully versed, at all, on it) whenever I saw those ridiculously cryptic posts here on FR back in the beginning (I think it was the beginning), but from what I have seen of the Qanon stuff, you cannot seriously make a statement like that with a straight face in context of what today’s media gets away with. If anyone incites and foments violence on a day-to-day relentless basis, it’s much of the media. So maybe the Qanon stuff is fring-esque on the conspiratorial side, but it definitely doesn’t seem any more provocative than the extremist and divisive stuff you hear out of these leftist pundits on TV all day long in several networks... and that’s leaving alone a lot of the big democrat and leftist social websites. Why is it that the left always gets a pass for creating radicals?
Defending Compromised Sessions hurt us and helped waste years of Trump’s Presidency.
They were against a Special Counsel to investigate the Coup.
Against calling Hunter Biden and investigating him.
Rumor has it was created by a small group of friends as a lark to see who could create the most outrageous notions and see how many people would believe it. At least that is what one alleged creator wrote in a confession several years ago.
The q people of course immediately called it fake.
Given that the EneMedia has taken the time and effort to write more than 1000 Anti-QAnon articles, each and every one of them full of lies...
Perhaps you can entertain the notion that maybe, just maybe, a few people
claiming to speak for QAnons, are actually inserting their own lies into the mix?
It’s War, after all. And before you go back there, any group as large as the millions and millions of QAnons is going to have some diversity of opinions, even without counting the division minded infiltrators.
Maybe they are, but they’re not the dark, dangerous cult as depicted in the leftist media. They’re an eccentric gaggle of Trump fans and nothing more. After eight years of dems singing praise and worship songs to Obama, suddenly the “Q” kids are some kind of threat? Please.
Yep! Lindsay “slow-walker” - “McCain’s Buddy” Granam is getting nervous.
A lot of people are. Interest how 3 weeks ago, you couldn’t even get them to mention Q. Now, it’s deemed public enemy number one. By the same group of people that are supporting “peaceful” riots, looting, and arson.
I think the lid is about to come off and the truth genie will be very talkative. Lindsay, among many others, doesn’t like what she’s about to say.
People, Q has done nothing to hurt anyone or ruin their lives.
Now Lindsey, he has done plenty to hurt us. He was McCain’s little butt boy and did plenty to backstab the American people.
So if you wanna pick on the true culprit, pick on Linda. He is guilty as sin.
Personally, I know nothing about Qanon. But, it’s amazing to see all the criticism of Q. Especially after living through 3 years of conspiracy theories coming from the New York Times and Washington Post.
