As the NBA continues to struggle to attract the sort of viewership it had last year, the UFC is seeing the opposite happen.
Despite meaningful postseason basketball being played on a daily basis, NBA Playoff viewership has dropped from 2.39 million average viewers in 2019 to 1.68 million in 2020. That is a 30 percent decline.
Meanwhile, the UFCs four preliminary cards since the promotion returned from its COVID-inspired hiatus have done an average of 1.17 million viewers across ESPN and ESPN+. That number is up 30 percent from what pay-per-view preliminary cards did in 2019.
Mind you, UFC pay-per-view preliminary cards largely feature unknown or past-their-prime talents. It is unsurprising that, on average, NBA Playoff games would draw more viewers. What is significant, however, is the fact that average UFC ratings are trending upwards at a time when the NBAs are trending downward.

What is this thing you call NBA??
And now...the Milwaukee Bucks have just announced that they are refusing to leave the locker room for their playoff game and are boycotting the playoffs because a wanted sexual assault criminal was shot by police. Oh the horror. As if anyone really wants to watch a bunch of pampered millionaires run up and down a wooden floor with SJW crap written everywhere. Boycott for good. I for one don’t care anymore. One thing this Covid mess has shown a lot of us...we do just fine without sports.
If by “mysteriously” you mean, the American people giving the NBA the middle finger.
Only 30%? Lets hope for 60%.
Amen to that...
I refuse to use my “white privilege” to support an organization that enslaves black millionaires. I have personally seen these players being overworked to the point that they are sweating through their shorts. It is my hope that these athletes will one day be freed from their misery and perhaps find more suitable employment in the fast food industry.
I didn’t. I wrote ‘nba’. No use wasting capital letters when you don’t need to.
Saw some NBA replays on local news. All the players had Marxist names on the back of their jersey. Shirts. Shoes. Warm up jerseys. Anarchist communist crap.
Who in their right mind thinks this BLM fraud is good for the sport, law and order, or the civil society.
Apparently, black players don't like it when white boys start stealing their thunder.
I'm looking forward to next year's salary cap announcement for the NBA and NFL, whose business models only project revenue growth ad infinitum.
And now the Bucks are boycotting Game 5 of their playoff series?
That will show them! Take that!
Its a real mystery. Why would anyone not watch such extremely well compensated fine men who respect the country that made that compensation possible and keep their sub room temp IQ opinions to themselves play a sport? Congress should hold hearings to figure this out.
Well...Adam Silver is a culprit in this whole deal. He could have easily said “no” to all the BLM crap on the courts, on the jerseys, on the coaches’ shirts, etc. But he bowed to the BLMs and now he is reaping what he has sown. I truly hope that the league takes a huge financial hit and these players get huge cuts in salary. That is the only thing that will slow this crap. Financial. No one cares what any of these prima Donas think.
UFC is PRO-America. The national thug league is anti-American. Hopefully, the nba will financially collapse.
“Mysteriously”?
“Seriously”?
Mysteriously???
Thats what I say. Nothing mysterious about it. It will take a season of significant lost revenue for these knuckleheads to get the picture...
The cat’s not smart enough to understand economic systems
He is however, dumb enough to be a racist
Now the Rockets and Thunder are boycotting their game today.
“Is Montrezl from Leviticus or Psalms?...”
His bio says “Louisville”. LOL!
They are all boycotting and hopefully boycott the rest of their playoffs.
“Mysteriously”
LMAOGTFO.
SOB know exactly why the NBAs ratings have tanked.
Go woke, go broke.......
