I didn’t say I wouldn’t rebel if the situation warranted it. But, I’ve always been treated fairly by the cops....my white privilege, no doubt.

I’m sure it would’ve been different with King George.

I was taught to be respectful and cooperate with the police. My respectful demeanor never got me out of a ticket...but I also never got a beatdown.

Two times I deserved to get SLAMMED but didn't.

1. In Mexico City I was driving at night in the rain on their "Periferico"--freeway. I ALMOST missed a turnoff and in doing so DRENCHED a motorcycle cop.
He came after me and had me follow him to a dark, quiet part of the city. Yikes. I WAS scared.
The first mistake I made was LYING about not speaking English. After that I said to myself: I was wrong 100% and I'm just going to EAT it.
But I decided that I wouldn't use tears. He was the one in the right and I wasn't going to try to "cry my way out of it" like some women do.
So I agreed with him and said I was sorry in Spanish umpteen times. No tears and all apology. He yelled and threatened. I nodded and apologized.
FINALLY he yelled: ¡VAYASE! or Get outta here!
Yep, he let me go, no bribe (mordida), nothing. Whew. I dodged a very big, dangerous bullet.
I sometimes think that I got out of it BECAUSE I didn't try to cry my way out of it.

2. In my neighborhood I cut off two pedestrians trying to cross the street. A local cop stopped me. I asked what I did wrong. He told me. I had NOT been paying attention.
I apologized profusely--noting my stupidity in my own neighborhood, that he was right and that I deserved the ticket.
He said: "You've been so nice. I can't tear up the ticket because I already wrote it. When your ticket turn to pay comes up I will show up and tell the judge that I made a mistake."

TWO months later I showed up and so did he. He kept his word and walked out of the courtroom. I JUMPED out of my chair, charged out of the courtroom and yelled: "THANK YOU, OFFICER!!!"

He kept walking but raised his hand in acknowledgement.
Another bullet, less dangerous, dodged.

Lately the police present me with a real conundrum. I am a supporter of law and order in our society and when I see the left attack the police and try to sow discord and lawlessness my instinct is to whole heartedly leap to defense of the cops.
Then I see that the left at the same time uses the cops as their willing goon squad to put their boots on the necks of citizens who dare to challenge the unlawful and dictatorial lockdown rules and I no longer know what to think.

Remember ALL news is a "package," distributed by the media for a reason--their reason.
The "package" may or may not be true, inclusive or in its REAL entirety.
It's good to have many channels and the Internet to check out where the truth really lies.

Since you're a FReeper, your brain is already superior. Ahem, there are a few FReepers who have had brain surgery which removed some basic necessities.
NO NAMES of course.

It’s been a revelation to me too. There’s an app called Nextdoor, which was originally about reporting lost pets and looking for a good home handyman, and now it’s nothing but Karen Stasi Central, where they try to get businesses shut down because some employee or even customer was not wearing a mask or not wearing it to their standards. Very frightening!

Everyone should start burning these stupid things like they used to burn bras in the 60s. If no one complies, what will they do?

Rethinking my history, I realize there WERE a couple of times I probably should’ve been arrested...but wasn’t. Cops let me off. I won’t give details, although I’m pretty sure the statute of limitations has long since expired. I’ve gotta say “thanks” to those officers.

Societal norms for clothing codified by legislation are one thing.

A mandate enacted by one executive’s signature purportedly for health reasons, without any scientific basis indicating its efficacy, and then inconsistently applied and enforced, is completely different.

There’s plenty of scientific evidence that they work, not just to prevent the spread of the virus, but to protect the wearer. Here’s a recent paper:

Would you be in favor of making masks mandatory as a permanent measure, since there will always be viruses present that could make people sick even to the point of dying?

You’ve clearly spent no time in Asia, where it’s been common for years.

Ah, yes, but we are not Asia...on many different levels...thank God. Asian populations in general are subservient which makes them so much adaptable to socialistic authoritarian rule.

When did it become ok for grown men, police or not, to treat tiny little women like this?

Hands to the neck is NOT proper restraining technique. It allows the person free use of their hands. Proper technique would have been to restrain an arm or wrist.

The cop could have put her against the wall and shot her to death and some on the FR would defend him.

“Do you refuse to wear pants and shoes when going into businesses, even though they’re required? If not, why not?”

The story says she had a medical exemption of some sort.

I can empathize with her. Asthma, allergies Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and a touch of emphysema make masks more dangerous to me than the irrational fear and anger of strangers. I wear a sanctioned face shield (no mask) at work and it seems to keep the Karen’s at bay.

Have A Nice Day!

When i encounter any local official, police, building inspecter, and the most powerful of all (in Michigan) game warden, i cooperate to the fullest. I do not know the laws in that nation, here in america, i am not required to wear a mask.

It's a good thing to remember the THIN BLUE LINE.

We are SO blessed to live in this country. We call the police if we're in trouble. THAT doesn't happen in too many any second or third world country.

I live here in the USA and we are so very blessed that we call the police when we're in trouble. THAT doesn't happen in second and third world countries. THOSE folks avoid the police like a plague.
Also we are one of the FEW countries on the planet that doesn't have a national police force. And don't say the FBI. THEY wear regular men's suits.

I threatened to call the FBI against this guy who...well, took money from me. I told him that if he didn't give it back to me I would contact the FBI.
I got the money back and I never heard from him again.

The FBI has muscle, very quiet but very powerful muscle.
