Video has surfaced showing the dramatic arrest of a woman in Melbourne not wearing a face mask, where the arresting officer is accused of choking the 21-year-old.
An onlooker filmed the struggle in the citys inner suburb of Collingwood, currently under a Stage 4 lockdown which requires people to wear a face covering in public.
Victoria Police said officers were patrolling Wellington Street on Monday when they saw the woman not wearing a face covering.
Police made the decision to arrest the woman after she failed to provide her name and address, a Victoria Police statement said.

Wearing a mask is no big deal. You’ve clearly spent no time in Asia, where it’s been common for years.
Do you refuse to wear pants and shoes when going into businesses, even though they’re required? If not, why not?
No doubt.
Mask aside: Would YOU face off against a cop? Lose your temper and then go after him? Being exnavy you know all about rules.
I don't think you'd do so.
I'm with you.
But had she been holding a BLM sign and marching he would not have even approached her.
Yes. Im free to wear shorts and flip-flops if I feel like it, even if its wintertime.
Then I see that the left at the same time uses the cops as their willing goon squad to put their boots on the necks of citizens who dare to challenge the unlawful and dictatorial lockdown rules and I no longer know what to think.
This over not wearing a freakin mask?!
Since we're getting into hypothetical questions, if a cop told you to lick his boots, and SMILE while you do it, would you maintain a big grin while you get on your knees and give your tongue a workout?
In fairness I've never seen a business post a policy requiring me to wear pants. I always wear a shirt and shoes, that's stated right at the door and I honor that. Pants, though ....
Flip-flops are shoes. Shorts are considered pants, for the purposes of entering most American businesses. Can you try to answer the question again, and this time with your brain engaged?
You have no clue what you are talking about.
DEPENDS ON
1. what the cop looked like;
2. how clean his boots were;
3. if I were wearing slacks or a skirt;
4. if I had some place to be at in a hurry;
5. if I were alone or with a friend;
6. who the friend would be;
7. what part of town I was in;
8. if anyone I knew happened to be watching
9. if I had to GRIN or SMILE...you mentioned both

It's be fun. Bored now. Bye-bye.
GFY, Karen.

Okay, fair enough—shirt and shoes. :)
“I’m with you.”
I was taught to be respectful and cooperate with the police. My respectful demeanor never got me out of a ticket...but I also never got a beatdown.
You’re so right. We should voluntarily and unreservedly give up our individual rights so we can serve our jackbooted masters just like they do in Asia.
Thanks so much for clearing that up. /sarc off

Thanks.
My name isn't Karen. You aren't even CLOSE.
We had neighbors who had a daughter named "Karen."
I never said your name is Karen. I implied that you are a Karen.

The colonists chose not to respect the authority of King George. That's how change happens. One individual standing alone against an oppressive government doesn't accomplish much, but if ten percent of the population puts up a resistance they can make a difference.
Correctly implied.
