I speculated last week that he hasnt announced his VP pick because they narrowed it down to a short list or contenders and they all came up with awful results in internal polls, focus groups, etc.
Sounds as good as any reason given so far.
Someone else mentioned that the VP choices have declined the offer. Not good for the Democrats.
Of course Biden’s big mistake (or just one of many) was in limiting his choices to a female of color. It would be like saying you are planning a wedding but are only going to shop at Dollar General.
I hope that’s the case, bad internal polling numbers-they could be looking for a fresh face for VP since they don’t have that for President . here’s this tidbit from Fischer Investment Newsletter on Dem Presidential Candidates that has held since 1860-
unless the Democrat candidate is already president then they haven’t won once with the candidate expected from 4 years ago-has to be fresh face-they explain it better:
“An amazing trivia secret: Democrats havent won the presidency once since the Civil War with any candidate thought likely to be the next nominee four years earlier, unless already the President somehow. Never, ever! Biden is archetypal of what they always lost withan old warhorse. Theyve won with previously unexpected names: Grover Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson, FDR, JFK, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and....Barack Obamaunexpected relative blank-slate personas to generate enthusiasm and turnout among youthful voters.”
I would agree...if you laid out Rice, or Harris....it subtracts from the campaign. Same for Whitmer. I don’t think it’ll be announced until 18 August, and more likely that he goes to Senator Warren to improve the odds of winning.
