RALEIGH, N.C. - Lawyers for North Carolina Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper and Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Forest argued before a judge on Tuesday over whether Coopers COVID-19 orders shuttering businesses and demanding face coverings were lawfully imposed.
The hearing involving two rivals in the November election - running against each other for governor - focused on whether the Council of State needed to consent to Coopers executive orders first before they could be carried out.
Forest sued Cooper last month, saying the governor failed to get the concurrence of the 10-member council - composed of Forest, Cooper and eight other statewide elected officials - before orders limiting mass assemblies and commerce could be implemented.
Forest lawyer Steven Walker said the lieutenant governor acknowledges that a pandemic is occurring and that the governor has authority to respond to it. Be he has to get the council's backing, Walker said.
This case isnt about politics, its not about science, its not about data, Walker told Judge Jim Gale. Its about the rule of law and the interpretation of both the Emergency Management Act and the quarantine and isolation statutes.

One example: the Trump Hating RINO Governor of Massachusetts declared in March (or February...can't recall which) that gun shops and gun ranges were "non-essential" and, therefore, must be closed. In June a Federal judge in Boston ruled that that order was a violation of 2nd Amendment rights and ordered that they be reopened.
Today we find,in various states, orders closing churches. We find in at least one state that one must not *sing* in church. We find in Nevada that churches must be closed byt casinos can open.We find that doctors' offices and hospitals have been pretty much shut down...but that Planned Barrenhood is allowed to remain open (that's exactly what happened in Massachusetts).
The right to peaceful assembly...freedom of religion...the right to engage in interstate commerce...the right to keep and bear arms...all violated by various Rat Party politicians.
Not sure what the point is.
If he loses, Forrest hurts his chances this fall.
If he wins, Royboy just gets the council to approve and approve retroactively.
I despise Royboy and all he does. I think he and every governor needs to have these emergency powers reduced. They were meant for extraordinary circumstances like storms and fires....not the sniffles and not for months on end.
I cant wait to vote against Roy Cooper.
how is Cooper’s popularity in NC?
I cannot wait to NOT vote for commie cooper, I would not vote for him to be dog catcher
