Are you Lutheran by any chance? Luther tried to remove James from the Canonical Scriptures.

And quite orthodox about it.

Luther didn’t have the “power” to remove anything from the canon and he knew it.
That is an embellishment (AKA urban legend) on Luther’s difficulty with ALL of James (and other NT books).
He was simply not comfortable with the Law and Gospel dichotomy in James, which he said was very weak (heavy on Law, see below re: audience).
Augustine (Luther was an Augustinian monk) posed the same difficulty.
He also noted that Scripture is Scripture by virtue of the Holy Spirit and that the authors were moved by the same.
As well as noting who the audience of the letter was and their deep-seated beliefs and practices; the scattered Jews outside of OT kingdom.
Read the lesser prophets to understand those fine humans.

Exactly true, but Who gives us 'the will and to do' works? It ain't man. Eph 2:8-10.
