I agree. This is unacceptable behavior for a uniformed service person.

Back in the day, one of my army roommates got an Article 15 and 14 days of CCF for not trimming his mustache after the Lt. reminded the platoon of the regs. This is far more severe.

I think it’s a little more serious than an Article-15 violation, this is a court-martial violation..................

Yes, there ARE fitness standards, but for the most part they’re ignored by command if the sailor is capable of doing their job.

As an Army doctor I once (about 2003-04) was involved in a medical board proceeding for an intelligence officer, 04 type, who worked at the agency because he weighed - IIRC - about 340 lbs give or take a buttered biscuit or twelve.

He had about 15 years active duty, had been very overweight for most of his adult life, even moreso in a handful of years.

As his job was SO specialized, his experience so rarified, exclusive, a replacement impossible to find in any reasonable amount of time - say, years - he was kept on in his job “for the benefit of NAVSECINTCOM (or somesuch navy type gobbledegook “NAVy SECurity INTelligence COMmand) and the US Government.

He didn’t even have to engage the interests of his congressman.

Last I heard from him he had been promoted to 05 and had put in for retirement.

Another very interesting case had to do with an E5 intel analyst who was, in a word, bugf**k crazy (Bipolar Mood Disordered with WIDE swings), something she had hidden fairly well with alcohol and drugs (she had this diagnosis prior to active service but lied about it, but because she had been in the AF for so long it was now THEIR problem - like someone didn’t do their due diligence in digging into her history while giving her highest level security clearances) convinced she was in command of the entire agency and, because SHE was so deeply embedded in her position, the job she did so sensitive, it took MONTHS for the agency to untangle her from all the connections involved, reassign other people, change field operatives, etc. Meanwhile, they kept her in her cubicle, where she could be observed during her shifts, and someone assigned to her at other non-duty times. As she wasn’t a direct threat to herself or anyone else (just national security) we couldn’t hospitalize her.

I was a tad earlier but it was good watching at the VFW & AL....

My ‘best recollections’ of the time were Fawn Hall and stuffing documents in her drawers (Which was suddenly OK when Sandy Burgler(sic) was stealing clinton documents from the Archives) and the pictures of the press stalking North in his ‘old station wagon’.

OTOH it conjures up a MUCH BETTER image of Fawn Hall ‘stuffing’ stuff than Sandy Berger...

I am thinking that her commander should be investigation regards enforcing PT and weight standards.

“This is revolting on many levels. Does the Navy not do PT? Do the girls get out of it or something?”

Several years ago, maybe 10, there was a General who took over his new command. First thing he noticed was EVERYONE was out of shape. He sent a memo that the following Monday every person in his command would begin getting into “deployment condition.” He would give everyone 30 days to make appreciable improvement in their physical condition.
The women in his command went over his head with their complaints. His order was countermanded and he was forced to let the women skate.

Physical fitness requirements for the military really seem to have gone down if this woman is allowed to serve.
