In the late 70's there was a war waged by US govt. officials(experts) against the traditional American breakfast(bacon & eggs).

My standard breakfast is three over easy fried eggs with three strips of crisp bacon accompanied by two pieces of buttered toast with grape jelly and a sixteen ounce glass of whole milk. I've eaten this six days a week for decades.
I'll have it tomorrow morning.

yeah...I recall reading about it in the paper while having my standard breafast of three eggs fried over easy in butter, 8 or 9 strips of bacon, couple slices of buttered toast with coffee on the side with cream and sugar.
Finished the 3rd cup of coffee with a cigarette or two and decided put it in the files with the story about Strontium 90 in milk that was going to make 3 eyed monsters of our children if it didn’t kill them outright.
Lemme see, filed it under B for butter, right before C, with the radioactive cranberry scare.

A member of our family lived to 109. Every morning he had 2 fried eggs, 6 slices of bacon, 3 biscuits and 3 cups of Luzianne Chickory and Coffee.
He also walked 4 miles a day until he was 102. He was still walking 1/4 mile every day until a week before he died.
The day he died he had his usual breakfast.

I vaguely remember the anti-egg thing -— but the one food craze that really sticks in my mind is OAT BRAN! It was the cure-all for what ails you. I remember going to aerobics class after work and then chowing down on a “healthy” oat bran muffin for dinner. Haha...

I remember the eggs and cholesterol hoax. Now my doctor tells me to eat eggs. It's a protein thing. I eat eggs almost every day. Another thing since the 70's was skim or 2% milk. I used to be over weight, but I changed my diet. One of the many things I changed was what kind of milk I drink, and I really like drinking milk, but 2% milk doesn't satisfy me. Skim milk? Get real, it's white colored water. I found that I drank less milk if I drank whole milk because it satisfied me more than 2%. In fact, when I was making the change over to whole milk from 2% milk I was drinking about half as much whole milk. It basically meant I had the same same fat intake but almost half the calorie intake.
This lead me to eating a lot of other verboten foods. Basically they are rich, dense type foods with a lot of fat. Think of a cheese cake or a super dense fudgie brownie. I'll eat those now but the portion sizes will be smaller than some other desert that isn't rich, but has twice the calories because I would eat twice as much.
So to wrap this up, eat stuff from farms. That includes eggs, whole milk (and if you can get it, raw milk - I have family that are dairy farmers), butter, cream and I mean super fat cream not the typical grocery store heavy cream. Use that to make homemade ice cream. You'll never want store bought again. And don't get me started on pig and cow. Two strips of bacon or two sausages with two eggs and two pieces of toast for breakfast keeps me satisfied all day long. Remembering Herman Cain - that's my 2-2-2 plan.
BTW, I went from 230lbs to 147lbs, where I am this morning. I've been at 147 plus or minus 6 or 7 lbs for over 2 years.

Just remember to give a small gesture of thanks to the first brave soul to see a chicken lay an egg and say, “I’m gonna eat that!”

I recently asked a liberal friend that was yelling about “settled science”, are eggs good or bad for you now?
How many times can science be settled on both sides of the coin?
It was fun watching his eyebrows try to crawl off his forehead trying to find an answer to that.

"Farmers would eat half a slab of bacon and 3-6 fried eggs and wash it down with half a pot of coffee or whole milk before going to work in the fields."
True that. But you need to add they worked from sunrise to sunset. One can eat like a field hand when you work like one. But if you eat like a field hand but go to work in a cubicle, well you will soon fit the cubicle...
