Truck is still in shop. Have already returned rental car. So I’m home today. Maybe pull a few weeds but rest and catch up are both on schedule. Loys of Trump support between Nikk and my homes. Signs have not been distributed. People who have them out have purchased them. Good news. One car dealer has a sign with a huge flag in background. From a distance my friend and I both thought it was a TRUMP sign. LOL.

Hasn’t our convention been wonderful/ I’ve never cried at a convention before, unless it was out of boredom. This year is just an inspiration, and a wonderful vacation from homeschooling my Grandson.
We have to attend a Zoom meeting every morning. With eighteen squirmy, chatty first graders. Ugh... My Grandson is autistic, and I’m not sure how much help I am to him. He needs his therapy back. School can’t start too soon for me, but I live in California and I’m sure the governor will not let up on all of our restrictions until after the election.
But Gov. Brown thinks she can just talk her way out of this.

First time unemployment claims fell slightly to one million Americans last week. The weekly figure from the Department of Labor has stagnated at around one million for the past several weeks.
In the past 23 weeks, the weekly first time unemployment claims number has fallen below one million only a single time. Prior to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, weekly claims hovered at around 200,000 a week.
Continuing jobless claims decreased by just under 225,000, putting the total number of Americans receiving unemployment insurance for at least two weeks at just over 14.5 million. Continuing claims figures are delayed by one week, so that number reflects the week ending on August 15.
July’s economic data indicated that manufacturing orders had begun to climb again, though, for the second month in a row, consumer confidence declined in August, according to new data.
D.C. lawmakers remain at an impasse on the next coronavirus relief package. White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said earlier this week that his office reached out to Speaker Pelosi to restart negotiations, but he is reportedly not feeling very hopeful.
On Wednesday, American Airlines announced they will cut 19,000 employees from their staff in October when funds from the government bailout package expire.

Didn’t know what to expect but can honestly say that this has been the best convention that I can remember.
Love concentrating on the speeches and not all the hoopla, which is fun, and I’m sure that the delegates miss.
Our children need to get back to school for their health and our sanity.

Wisconsin authorities say there was knife in Jacob Blake’s vehicle
Blake admitted he had a knife in his possession, which was found in the driver’s side floorboard, police say.

Jacob Blake, the man wounded by a police officer In Kenosha, Wis., on Sunday, had a knife in his car, the Wisconsin Department of Justice announced Wednesday night.
“During the investigation following the initial incident, Mr. Blake admitted that he had a knife in his possession. DCI agents recovered a knife from the driver’s side floorboard of Mr. Blake’s vehicle. A search of the vehicle located no additional weapons,” the department said in a press release.
The department said that Blake had opened his vehicle’s driver’s side door before Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey opened fire.
“During the incident, officers attempted to arrest Jacob S. Blake, age 29. Law enforcement deployed a taser to attempt to stop Mr. Blake, however the taser was not successful in stopping Mr. Blake. Mr. Blake walked around his vehicle, opened the driver’s side door, and leaned forward. While holding onto Mr. Blake’s shirt, Officer Rusten Sheskey fired his service weapon 7 times. Officer Sheskey fired the weapon into Mr. Blake’s back,” the department said.

US airstrike kills 6 Somali terrorists who ambushed US troops

A U.S. airstrike killed six members of the Al Shabaab terror group after they attacked U.S. troops on Monday, the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) said.
The airstrike was launched in response to an Al Shabaab ambush on U.S and partner forces in the area, AFRICOM said in an emailed statement to American Military News. The Al Shabaab fighters attacked from a building in the vicinity of Dar as-Salam, Somalia before the airstrike was called. Three more Al Shabaab fighters were also wounded in the airstrike.
The AFRICOM said U.S. forces were in the vicinity of the ambush and were present as part of an effort to advise and assist Somali partner forces. AFRICOM said Al-Shabaab falsely claimed U.S. casualties, but no U.S. forces were injured or killed during the attack.
AFRICOM reported no civilian casualties from the strike.
“Al Shabaab is a dangerous enemy,” said U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Bradford Gering, who is the deputy director for operations for AFRICOM. “It is a danger to Africa and the United States. “We will continue to place pressure on the network and impact their ability to plan and execute these acts.”
