Just read that vacuuming is as effective as walking. Your maid will be excited to hear how much exercise she is getting.

THREAD
1) The UN Security Council on Friday failed to uphold an arms embargo on #Iran & the U.S. could now act on a threat to trigger a return of all U.N. sanctions on Tehran, known as snapback.
The world body failed to live up to its responsibility & the price will be high.
******************
2) Even though the US withdrew from the 2015 deal, snapback would require Iran to suspend all nuclear enrichment-related & reprocessing activities, including R&D, & ban imports of anything contributing to those activities or to the development of nuclear weapon delivery systems.
***********************************
3) It would reimpose the arms embargo, ban Iran from developing ballistic missiles capable of delivering nuclear weapons & reimpose sanctions on dozens of individuals/entities. States also would be urged to inspect shipments to/from Iran & authorized to seize any banned cargo.
******************************
4) How does the U.S. trigger snapback?
Washington would have to submit a complaint about Iran breaching the nuclear deal to the UN Security Council.
The council would then have to vote within 30 days on a resolution to continue Irans sanctions relief.
********************************
5) If such a resolution is not put forward by the deadline, all U.N. sanctions in place before the 2015 nuclear deal would be automatically reimposed.
Some diplomats have said the U.S. could submit its complaint as early as next week.
*********************************
6) If a resolution is put forward prior the 30-day deadline, say by Russia or China, the U.S. can veto that resolution, forcing the deadline to expire and the snapback mechanism reimposing all UN sanctions.
************************************
7) In the coming days, the United States will follow through on that promise to stop at nothing to extend the arms embargo, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft said in a statement.
*********************************
8) Irans U.N. Amb. Majid Takht Ravanchi warned the U.S. against snapback.
Imposition of any sanctions or restrictions on Iran by the Security Council will be met severely by Iran and our options are not limited, he threatened in known Iran-saber rattling style.
*************************************
9) It was not immediately clear how Russia, China or any other Security Council members might try to stop the U.S. from triggering a sanctions snapback or if procedurally there is any way they can.
***********************************
10) Diplomats have said several countries are likely to argue that the U.S. legally could not activate a return of U.N. sanctions and therefore they simply would not reimpose the measures on Iran themselves.
However, Russia is already concerned.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday proposed holding a seven-way online summit of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council together with Germany and Iran, to outline steps aimed at avoiding a confrontation over the Iran arms embargo.
In a Kremlin statement, Putin said discussions were becoming increasingly tense over the Iranian issue at the Security Council, which began voting on Thursday on a US proposal to extend an arms embargo on Iran, which is opposed by veto-wielding Russia and China.
The situation is escalating. Unfounded accusations against Iran are being put forward, said Putin, adding that Russia remained fully committed to the Iran nuclear deal.
The 13-year-old arms embargo is due to expire in October under a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran, Germany, Russia, China, Britain, France and the United States that prevents Tehran from developing nuclear weapons in return for sanctions relief.
Putin described the matter as urgent and urged the other nations to carefully consider Russias offer, saying the alternative was further escalation of tensions and a growing risk of conflict.....per Friday..14,Aug 2020
*********************************************
11) @USAmbUN Under Res. 2231, the U.S. has every right to initiate snapback of provisions of previous Security Council resolutions...The U.S. will follow through on that promise to stop at nothing to extend the arms embargo [on Irans regime].
*****************************
12)
the clear majority of Council members gave the green light to Iran to buy and sell all manner of conventional weapons. The Councils failure today will serve neither peace nor security. Rather, it will fuel greater conflict and drive even more insecurity.
******************************
13) Has Iran done anything to warrant reconsideration of its status as the worlds number one state sponsor of terrorism? Should UN arms restrictions that have been in place for 13 years be lifted?
The answer is simple: No.
****************************
This letter, supported overwhelmingly by both parties in the House, represents an imperative to reauthorize this provision not through snapback or going it alone - but through a careful diplomatic campaign.
The Trump Administration has promised a better deal, and it falls to the administration to solve this crisis, not make it worse. Iran continues to be a danger to the United States, our interests, and our allies. We need a realistic and practical strategy to prevent Iran from becoming a greater menace, Engel added.
Pompeo last week vowed to use all means available to extend the arms embargo on Iran.
He said he would ask the UN Security Council to prolong the ban.
The United States in 2018 withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal that sought to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons in exchange for relief from economic sanctions. As part of that deal, a UN arms embargo on Iran expires in October.
But China and particularly Russia, which stand to win major new arms contracts with Iran, are certain to oppose an extension. They only agreed to the five-year ban in 2015 as a compromise reached with the Obama administration.
********************************************
16) And just recently:
Republican congressional leaders are pressuring the Trump admin to abandon its efforts to extend a UN arms embargo on Iran, and instead push the international body to reimpose all economic sanctions on Tehran.
Part of the article.
Rep. Joe Wilson (R., S.C.), chairman of the Republican Study Committees Foreign Affairs and National Security Task Force
"The United States should exercise its legal right under international law to reimpose sanctions on Iran given its persistent threat to world peace," said Wilson, who also serves as the ranking member on the Houses Middle East, North Africa, and International Terrorism Subcommittee. "Snapping back sanctions on Iran is the only way to reinstitute the permanent U.N. arms embargo on Iran that was made temporary by the disastrous nuclear deal."
Wilson warned about capitulating to Russia and China at the U.N., saying that "Moscow and Beijing have already made it clear that they intend to sell Iran weapons after the termination of the embargo in October, continuing to fuel the terrorism and instability that has roiled the Middle East."
"Its time to finally pull the plug on the harmful legacy of the Iranian nuclear deal which endangered our allies in the region," Wilson said.
*****************************
17) It is now quite obvious that UN Security Council members would rather witness a Middle East arms race because they would profit from selling weapons & defense systems to all parties involved.
They care nothing about the regions nations that will suffer greatly.
***********************************
18) @Rich_Goldberg All nations that abstained should abstain again if any state questions US' snapback right. To do otherwise would move them from an already morally compromised position of neutrality to proactive support of China/Russia launching a military client state in Iran.
***************************************
19) Goldberg: Should any nation contest the US right to snapbacka right that is absolute and indefinite based on the text of UNSCR 2231the Trump administration should be prepared to exercise its double veto power as a permanent member of the Security Council.

I need positive that our laws and constitution are worth more than the paper it’s written on. Haven’t seen any evidence of this since I was born.

When it is too hot or, in the winter, too cold and icy to walk outside, you can put a cup or box full of something like pencils in one room and an empty cup in another room. Then walk back and forth moving one pencil to the other cup each tine. You will do a little walking with a small challenge and then a sense of accomplishment. When you are ready, you can add additional pencils and thus laps.

Love the Support Trump and America parade. Just people walking along the sidewalk carrying American and Trump 2020 flags. No blocking traffic, no vandalism, no rioting ... just patriots.
