It boggles the mind how much they hate this man.

I know it won't matter to enough folks, but for this, the people of Oklahoma should be demanding Inhofe's resignation. But, he'll be sent back again and again and again.

Interestingly, in October 2017, Inhofe said that all Never Trump Senators should be gone. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3598704/posts

Clearly he's one of them. What you do publicly should be exactly what you do privately. I think the term for that is...INTEGRITY. Clearly Inhofe has none.

Whoever that “someone” is, he just committed a major crime, unless he had permission from Inhoffe, and if he did give permission, he’s a snake. WTF is wrong with Robert E. Lee’s name anyway? Arlington is on his old farm. He was a brilliant general and an entirely decent human being. He opposed slavery to a limited extent, and ended the South’s rebellion when the cause became hopeless.

Robert E. Lee was not only one of the greatest Virginians to ever live, but one of the greatest Americans.

Mr. Dwight D. Eisenhower
White House
Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. President:

At the Republication Convention I heard you mention that you have the pictures of four (4) great Americans in your office, and that included in these is a picture of Robert E. Lee.

I do not understand how any American can include Robert E. Lee as a person to be emulated, and why the President of the United States of America should do so is certainly beyond me.

The most outstanding thing that Robert E. Lee did, was to devote his best efforts to the destruction of the United States Government, and I am sure that you do not say that a person who tries to destroy our Government is worthy of being held as one of our heroes.

Will you please tell me just why you hold him in such high esteem?

Sincerely yours,

Leon W. Scott

******************************************************************
August 9, 1960

Dear Dr. Scott:

Respecting your August 1 inquiry calling attention to my often expressed admiration for General Robert E. Lee, I would say, first, that we need to understand that at the time of the War between the States the issue of secession had remained unresolved for more than 70 years. Men of probity, character, public standing and unquestioned loyalty, both North and South, had disagreed over this issue as a matter of principle from the day our Constitution was adopted.

General Robert E. Lee was, in my estimation, one of the supremely gifted men produced by our Nation. He believed unswervingly in the Constitutional validity of his cause which until 1865 was still an arguable question in America; he was a poised and inspiring leader, true to the high trust reposed in him by millions of his fellow citizens; he was thoughtful yet demanding of his officers and men, forbearing with captured enemies but ingenious, unrelenting and personally courageous in battle, and never disheartened by a reverse or obstacle. Through all his many trials, he remained selfless almost to a fault and unfailing in his faith in God. Taken altogether, he was noble as a leader and as a man, and unsullied as I read the pages of our history.

From deep conviction, I simply say this: a nation of men of Lee’s calibre would be unconquerable in spirit and soul. Indeed, to the degree that present-day American youth will strive to emulate his rare qualities, including his devotion to this land as revealed in his painstaking efforts to help heal the Nation’s wounds once the bitter struggle was over, we, in our own time of danger in a divided world, will be strengthened and our love of freedom sustained.

Such are the reasons that I proudly display the picture of this great American on my office wall.

Sincerely,

Dwight D. Eisenhower

Another leaker in the WH. It never ends.

Lee is guilty of being a Virginian and a Christian. Everyone, north and south, held him in the highest respect. He did not fight for slavery; he fought for Virginia.

Not all states require two party permission to record. In Texas, I can record you without your permission.

How much do they hate Trump? Do you not think this came from Inhofe’s staff? Or whomever he dined with?

Doesn’t seem to be anything different than what Trump tweeted as reported in the article. I wonder what else was on the recording that the Times didn’t bother to report...something exculpatory perhaps in favor of trump?

Nothing burger,,,,

Doesn’t sound like that. The call was recorded on the other end in a restaurant.

“Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) put Trump on speakerphone at an Italian restaurant in Washington, D.C., as the men talked politics Wednesday night.”

Republican pols are idiots. We’ll get no help from them.

And then there’s Sensenbrenner....

Lee and all the confederate soldiers were pardoned by President Johnson. Confederate soldiers were authorized pensions albeit funded by their respective states. Why are we trying to revive old divisions from the Civil War? If those who were actually affected by the war could forgive one another and heal as a nation, why can’t we?

I was really pissed at Petraeus who called the Confederates “traitors.” You don’t pardon traitors, you shoot them.

“Who puts a call with POTUS on speakerphone.”

Someone who needed to retire 10 years ago. Inhofe is 86. And he has been in government way too damn long.

And joined the war reluctantly on Constitutional grounds. The North welshed on their deal. The South wanted out, peacefully. The North welshed on that too.

Arlington Cemetery is Lee’s confiscated estate.
