Just completed my Iowa Carry & Conceal class and I recall seeing a thread or a mention on a phone app that I thought worked with your GPS to let you know each states rules on C&C.
Any insights and why you like/dislike a particular app is appreciated.
Thank you.
It’s not as if they’d use the app to track your location or anything.
Is use the app from USCCA. Easy to use, add your resident and non-resident CCW to get map. Then drill down to info for each state.
I wear a tinfoil hat so that can’t occur.
Thanks for the reply.
I have two. One is the USCCA app that works pretty well, though it has a few glitches. You should carry “carry insurance” if you’re carrying, and USCCA is a good one for that.
My second app is CCW, which works great and is kept very much up to date, an important thing with today’s changing laws.
I make sure I go through each state’s rules before traveling, not so much because I change my carry habits, but more so I know what I’m facing if caught, and how I need to conceal to prevent that.
And if you are in noncompliance by accident, there will be data to prove it.
And Obama never spied on Trump.
Here’s the one I use:

Unfortunately that probably wont help you. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, and all that.
Awhile back I was talking to an NRA lawyer. He said that cops in DC will arrest you even if you are in compliance with the DC firearm transportation laws. And no DC judge will be in any hurry to release you.
His advice was to stay out of DC, Baltimore, and New York City in particular.
You essentially answered a question I had. When traveling by car, do CCW holders ignore the law in prohibited states (such as CA) or do they comply and risk being a victim?
You should know the laws for the state you are driving in/through.
Car is a little different. You do risk being thrown in jail in sh**holes like New Jersey, Maryland, and Massachusetts. That said, if you arent doing anything wrong, its unlikely youll be searched. Theres always that outlier, though, and you need to be prepared to be a guest of these jurisdictions, or better yet, avoid them completely.
Why not just print out a map with the laws in question? That way you don’t have to worry about being tracked by your phone and Google / Apple knowing where you are and if you are armed?
Or don’t carry if you have to be in DC.
I have wondered too if police know that you have a permit if when they pull you over.

The case the NRA lawyer was talking about didnt involve carrying. Some guy was a hunter. And he was gong on a hunting trip. But first he had to stop in DC on business. He was careful. He researched all the DC rules for how to legally transport a rifle. He followed each rule.
Then he was stopped by a DC cop for a traffic infraction. The cop asked for permission to search the car. The guy said yes (dumb move). The cop found the legally stored rifle. Off to the DC jail the guy went.
Very easy advice to follow. Better yet, just avoid the whole of New England. Mebbe just stay South of the Mason-Dixon? Exception to Atlanta.
Still easy enough! d;^)
Wow.
I’ve seen them. What’s it cost for a policy and what does it cover? Thank you for taking the time to respond.
THank you!!
