I totally disagree.
Yes, Cobain was an addict and all that. But his songwriting and presence effectively not only drove Nirvana to stardom but helped launch a genre. Grohl's contributon is miniscule in comparison and he'd be nowhere without Kurt and Novoselic.
His drumming wasn't integral to the genre - Matt Cameron, Dave Abbruzzese, and Sean Kinney did more for the genre than Dave. He ranks up there with the drummers for AC/DC and Judas Priest as guys who held down a beat behind a great band. That isn't a bad thing - those bands didn't need an above average drummer either. But please...Bonham and Moon and Pearl are ground-breaking drummers who continue to influence beyond the grave. Grohl's drumming highlight reel consists of a single stroke roll in Teen Spirit and his dotted eighth and sixteenth note snare pattern. That's cool...but not ground-breaking.
Foo Fighters' 7MM in domestic album sales is more albums than I've sold, and is in a league with AALIYAH, ARIANA GRANDE, CASTING CROWNS, CINDERELLA, DOLLY PARTON, GEORGE WINSTON and GOO GOO DOLLS. That's respectable, but not revolutionary like that other drummer/solo guy Phil Collins' 33.5MM units (Phil is also a better drummer and even non-drummers know In The Air Tonigh...who is air-drumming Grohl?)
I have no class warfare animosity and millionaires are all right by me. But this "I'm down with being safe at all costs" jackwad's mindset needs to be contrast with his environment. It seems it is the affluent liberals who push shutdown, and don't care that their fear is being soothed by the balm of 30MM unemployed poor and minority service workers.
Many of those “essential” workers have had children in daycare during all of this.
