As professor of epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health, I have authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications and currently hold senior positions on the editorial boards of several leading journals. I am usually accustomed to advocating for positions within the mainstream of medicine, so have been flummoxed to find that, in the midst of a crisis, I am fighting for a treatment that the data fully support but which, for reasons having nothing to do with a correct understanding of the science, has been pushed to the sidelines.
As a result, tens of thousands of patients with COVID-19 are dying unnecessarily. Fortunately, the situation can be reversed easily and quickly.
I am referring, of course, to the medication Hydroxychloroquine. When this inexpensive oral medication is given very early in the course of illness, before the virus has had time to multiply beyond control, it has shown to be highly effective, especially when given in combination with the antibiotics azithromycin or doxycycline and the nutritional supplement zinc.
On May 27, I published an article in the American Journal of Epidemiology (AJE) entitled, "Early Outpatient Treatment of Symptomatic, High-Risk COVID-19 Patients that Should be Ramped-Up Immediately as Key to the Pandemic Crisis." That article, published in the world's leading epidemiology journal, analyzed five studies, demonstrating clear-cut and significant benefits to treated patients, plus other very large studies that showed the medication safety.
Physicians who have been using these medications in the face of widespread skepticism have been truly heroic. They have done what the science shows is best for their patients, often at great personal risk. I myself know of two doctors who have saved the lives of hundreds of patients with these medications, but are now fighting state medical boards to save their licenses and reputations.

My wife took this stuff as a malaria prophilactic when she had to go to some SH**hole country in west Africa. No problem.
What I read about this stuff early-on was that it shortened the illness; e.g., instead of feeling like you WANT to die for 10 days you feel better in 6.
But, Trump touted it, so it must be bad and has been fought on that basis only.
Saw a video day before where a doc had prescribed the drug — and got a call from the pharmacist asking Why. He told them that the Why was between him and the patient and the pharmacist to mind his own business. Pharmacist went away and filled the prescription.

35 year-old son came down with Covid, including respiratory symptoms on Friday last week, took HCQ, azithromycin and zinc. Cough was gone in 24 hours and he was well within 3 days. He had fever and feeling very sick. He had the medication on hand. He said the only mistake he made was he did not take the proper dosage until the 2nd day, when he did- he got well fast! He can’t believe this medication is being withheld from people.

Mark Levin had a woman doctor on last night who gave very detailed information about the travesty of HCQ usage being suppressed. Levin asked her if she thought it was because of President Trump recommending HCQ, but she said she thought that too, but looked up and found that it was removed for over the counter usage ( no prescription required) in several countries in early January. She implied that certain entities did not want this cheap medication to be available to the public.
WHO, Gates the chicoms etc. That cabal are the culprits in this.
We are in a war with what I suspected would be the case about two decades ago, maybe three. The young, dot com, radical, newly minted, overnight millionaires who have become old, bored, radical, know better than anybody else what is good for you radicals. They must be better than all the rest of us because they have more money than us. That is their belief I think.
That element of having more money and therefore must be smarter is the driver for all the celebrity mouthing off as well as the billionaire agenda. Even the old man Warren Buffet thinks he is qualified to tell the rest of us how to live. Having followed early reporting on the Ford Foundaton study, my skepticism was aroused when these tests, like so many of the propaganda reports, did not include the treatment protocol element Zinc. Of course all of us have some zinc in our bodies, but more than 10 nations use the HCQ + zinc + azithromycin mixture, based upon the experimental evidence of zinc’s antiviral properties. A bottle of 100 220 mg zinc capsules costs about $10 at Amazon. One wonders if the lurking anti-Semites objected to the Jewish doctor who did his research, followed the research in Germany, India, France, South Korea, China, Brazil, ....and put his community of immunocompromised patients on the combination. Zelenko was interviewed by Rudy Giuliani, probably leading to Trump’s announcement that HCQ was a promising and effective Covid-19 Zelenko, who has cancer and one lung, has many reasons to keep his patients out of the hospital. He stresses who critical early intervention is. Respirators kill most of those who don’t get eearly treatment. Tests can take days or weeks, by which time the damage to lungs has been done.
Zelenko has been contacted by country after county, countries which aren’t fighting over control of the federal piggy bank, for guidance based upon his direct experience. In his community of 36,000 ultraorthodox Jews, with very large families and lots of elderly, 1000 were immune challenged and over 65 yo. 1000 were treated with HCQ, zinc, azithromycin. Two died, one of Leukemia and the other, 85 yo, may have had a stroke - (I don’t recall that detail.) Listen to the last Zelenko interview with Giuliani if you are curious. Kudos to the Yale epidemiologist, but why didn’t he note that the most famous protocol in the Covid -19 reportage, now called “the Zelenko Protocol”, includes zinc. Zinc is the antiviral element. Why is it not included the this Ford Foundation study as it was not included in the Veterans Admin in the New England Journal nor in the Lancet study both of which studies were later retracted for lack of supporing data and ridiculous (lethal) doses of HCQ. Good that HCQ is not being attacked; or is it? If the dozens of vaccines can claim to help half the target patients, the effectiveness of HCQ, Zinc, and Azithromicyn (a pneumonia prophylactic) is relatively comparable. Zelenko’s and Roualt’s numbers, and Singapore’s, and South Korea’s, and India’s etc. are, except for the cost, comparable. We wouldn’t want to deny CDC/NIH/FDA or WHO or Bill and Melinda, the “free” taxpayer funds they are spending to help our major media sources survive, or flourish, or funds to help them protect “The Swamp” which destruction Trump has always declared to be his principal objective.

Trump now calls the HCQ+Zn+Zpak regimen ‘therapeutics’. He promotes both vaccines and therapeutics going into the election but he knows therapeutics are the answer.

It was Trump early on promoting what Risch is just now coming around to. It was Trump that touted the HCQ regimen causing press pukes to howl and attack it as ‘nonscientific’. Fauci piled on with snipes of how the regimen is ‘anecdotal’. Most everyone here following this already knows all this.
The real culprits are the press. They have acted as Gates’s marketing and reporting arm, smearing therapeutics and falsely reporting on vaccine progress.
Here’s an apt but distasteful analogy, distasteful because what the press has done is distastegul and actually criminal:

And guess what?
Even though it’s all a lie, people will shun your sister to avoid controversy just like they wear masks that don’t work, that don’t help. It’s all about getting through the day avoiding as much controversy as possible. Doesn’t matter your sister is clean and morally upright, doesn’t matter, She’s been placed in the controversy category.
Only group that can turn it around are MDs but they are for the most part cowards.
MDs no longer honor their Hippocratic Oath “First, do no harm”.
