I think its just to show respect for our country but show empathy for people that maybe need it, Indians manager Terry Francona said during a previous post-game interview.
As a team, we understand its time for change and change is due, shortstop Francisco Lindor added. So, with that being said, were all standing together and bringing awareness to whats happening around us is extremely important because some things need to change.
While the Cleveland Indians remained standing during the national anthem on Monday, others around MLB took a knee as a way to protest social injustice and racial inequality following months of unrest around the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.
Hounded? Oh yeah. The Communist sports media will be jumping all over them for not being woke enough.
It’s good that this team isn’t going fully to the dark side like some of the others, but I do think that it’s a left-supporting political message when considering the context. Like “hope” and “change we can believe in”, it’s just a better disguised take on some nasty stuff. The real neutral thing to do would have been to do nothing different at all.
But I agree with your larger point. Kneeling should not be allowed, period. BLM on your jersey, mound, etc. should not be allowed, period. Certainly people can give up MLB when our very country is at stake. Right?
I thought there would be more kneeling from baseball players. Even the Giants didn’t have a lot of them. Just shows how little influence American blacks now have amongst baseball players.
I was very impressed. Theres a right way and a wrong way. This was incredibly classy. I think the team needs to here from the public how appreciative this gesture is. We all love our country and recognize that some changes are needed regarding true police brutality.
Or how people of color are now witnessing they are being used by white liberal elites. And the movement BLM is being olayed as fools.
It was a win-win for everyone. Well, except the Democrats.
Exactly right. The kneeling is a profound show of disrespect to America.
If they want to demonstrate, they can do it on their own time:
1. Go to a protest rally
2. Post a sign on their property
3. Place a sticker on their car bumper
Many ways to protest, but never, ever disrespect the National Anthem and Flag.
The Cleveland Indians are doing it the right way.
MLB SHOULD TAKE NOTICE!
Lets use the Kneeling as a sign they are praying for a Great USA and a game win. But it is a disgrace to your nation this Kneeing. However; I serviced this country so that we are free to make your choices, good or bad.
I’m free to make my choice too.
I’m just going to ignore them, and not waste any more of my time on them.
The Reds had four kneelers, led by Canadian Joey Votto.
Snooty Canadians sticking their nose into my country’s politics is sort of a pet peeve of mine. Justin Trudeau is an absolute joke, but it’s their country and their business how they choose to govern it. So keep your noses out of mine, eh?
BLM is opening up a huge rift between Blacks and Hispanics in this country. BLM does not acknowledge that all lives matter, so in essence it is sending a message to Hispanics that your lives don’t matter. There are WAY more Hispanics in baseball in 2020 than Black Americans, so this call is not a slam-dunk for MLB.
Black culture is weak. Generations of blame whitey race baiting have destroyed their work ethic. Hispanics have almost totally run them out of California and are in the process of doing that near everywhere in the country. Stop at most any big or small town in “The South” and you’ll see Hispanics working.
I agree. Nice touch.
It’s called a real team not fame whores.
ping
YES!!! We love many of the Cleveland Indians' fans! Been to Progressive Field / Jacobs Field a few times, and even went up and met the famous Indians' drummer (named John Adams!) and his wife (or maybe girlfriend?). Wonderful people who love the game of baseball.
I'm sure you'll agree the name 'Indians' is not long for this world, though. Which is ridiculous.
OHIO PING!
Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.
