Oh Sanctimonious One, you respect no one here.
Were you born stupid or did you have to study?
The only one mocking the sick and dead is you - posting your numbers here then running back to your buddy travis and others bragging about it like you have done something big and brave
With all due respect, I think you are perhaps spinning the argument a little and in the interest of your post and civility, I will respond in kind.
I do NOT think there is anyone mocking and denigrating the sick and the dead. To a person, all have said that there is a tragedy and that this pandemic is something that we all would have rather avoided.
HOWEVER, what there is serious, and justifiable questions around is the government response and individual person’s responses. There is a lot of behavior that seems governed by FEAR, not by reason. Further, there is not a search for scientific consensus. We have numerous people who lose their lunch when and if there is push back against things like mandatory masks. Those arguments degenerate into typical political arguments and on one side there are the libertarian types who think that the individual will make the proper decisions for him or herself and should be free of government interference and micromanagement, and the others who believe that the government has a right to impose mandates in times of emergency that infringes basic liberties.
It is a question that will be fought long after this brief pandemic. What I think people are scared by is the ease in which we collectively hand over our liberties. Is there justification for the economic suicide we have committed? Have we violently more thrust toward a government cradle to grave system?
As for Trumps re-election, I think it is quite defining. His instincts were correct immediately, but he backed off. He lives in the White House, and is starting to act a bit more politically — not that I think there is anything wrong with it, but his previous brash balls to the wall statements are now more tempered and guarded (He is considering the impact on his election no doubt). It appears to be he is frustrated because all of his life he has been a free market, private business owner who gets things done. Now he is tied up by the administrative state.
In my hospital, when the administration gets involved it is a fiasco and time consuming process that waters down good ideas — I know, I was both an administrator and clinician. The analogy is why there is such waste in the health care system. Nonclinical administrators add nothing to the process except red tape, delay, and drain precious resources. Same thing in the overbloated administrative state of DC, and yet they are convinced that we cannot live without their superior knowledge and benevolent guidance.
At the end of the day, no person on this board will denigrate the sick or dying. The psychotic and possessed, maybe, but the tragedy of the pandemic is real and serious and I know of no one who has said different. The vigorous debate of HOW to work through it is both reasonable, and necessary in a free society.
I wish you the best, health and safety in this time. This, too, shall pass, and we shall once again meet our neighbors as we did before, for the human spirit yearns for freedom and bonding with each other, not hiding behind masks, and social distancing. We are creatures who thrive on closeness and touch, and we will not lose that anytime soon.
You’re an idiot.
Only respect for Jim, but not for other FReepers?
It was marginally funny the first hundred times you posted it, but it is really tiresome and reflects much worse on you than the people it was directed to.
When one tires of refuting the obvious lies, misdirection and deceit provided from his trusted associate/mate (media and government), he simply gives up and allows the strumpet to continue to violate her promises.
The media and government are sleeping together.
They are pissing on your shoes and telling you it’s raining.
That tactic failed, but please continue.
I kind of miss your family photo. It was cute.
