I think the cop should have been thrown off the force after first dozen complaints.

I don’t care what the article says, it is a fact that the breathing of a person , over weight with his hands cuffed behind his back, is impaired. I learned this in a grand jury.

There are specific circumstances where putting someone on their stomach can be safe and helpful. However, pretty much every police training manual and instructor in the country states that once you have cuffs on a suspect, you are to immediately put them in a neutral (e.g. sitting) or standing position. This is for the safety of the suspect. This was a hard lesson learned after people with all sorts of medical conditions died after being left laying face-down while handcuffed.

He was having trouble breathing and stated that even BEFORE he was on the ground. Is the article wrong about proning helping people who are having trouble breathing?

"The police officers did their job" "I hope the Cops all walk free. They should."

I have yet to hear a single police officer - current or former, including training instructors - who agrees with your assessment. I've had discussions about this with probably 15 or so at this point. Two of them are/were instructors who trained other officers in how to gain control over uncooperative suspects and how to safely restrain them. The instructors took the whole issue incredibly personally, since they taught officers exactly the opposite and were horrified watching this video. I haven't seen a single verified police officer in any LEO forum defend this. It's always a civilian defending it.

CPR would have been a good start. Not standing there with their hands in their pockets not giving a crap is the important part. When the crowd is yelling “he needs help” and the guys who are his custodians (custody is a 2 way relationship) do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING while he dies those people are at fault. Also scum.

And where does this say standing around doing nothing while a guy in obvious physical distress begs for his mother is helpful? THAT’S the real problem. It’s not what they did. It’s what they didn’t do. And what they didn’t do was appear to give a damn.

The ambulance had been called. The only thing he MIGHT have done is administer cpr. But I'm not sure what the policy was on that with that pd.

I learned this from several medical journals.

And why didn’t they give CPR. Screw policy. It’s called being a responsible human. When you have someone in custody you are their custodian, your JOB is to keep them healthy as much as you can. THEY FAILED.

There is no circumstance where breathing will be improved by laying face-down in the street with your hands cuffed behind your back and a 190 lbs man’s knee in the back of your neck. None. Zero. Does not exist. Does not even make the slightest bit of sense whatsoever to suggest it. Officer Chauvin’s attorneys will never try to claim he had recognized Floyd’s difficulty breathing and thought this was the best way to help him breathe better.

If they did, the jury would burst into laughter before asking the judge if they can just take a vote right then and there.

I guess all these medical people saving lives by doing exactly that are wrong then. Thanks.

Find me a single nurse or doctor on the face of planet Earth who says that cuffing a man’s hands behind his back, placing him face-down on the street, and kneeling on the back of his neck will help him breathe more easily.

Just one.

Why are you supporting these Democrat city dirty cops? They’d be the first ones to stand down and allow antifa to assault conservatives. They made their bed. Now they’ll rightfully hang for assaulting a handcuffed and unconscious prisoner who died.

A few folks can’t get past the racial aspect of this case. The “thug deserved it”, etc. I have no doubt had this police assault happened at a Trump rally they would be singing another tune.

Exactly. Nobody wants bad or incompetent cops around; especially good cops. These guys must go on trial for what happened, regardless of how bad a person Floyd was in life.

Again not one article I've read about proning mentions anything about hand or arm position so it apparently doesn't matter whether or not someone has cuffs on or not. The full weight of his body was not on his neck and it wasn't on any part that had to with breathing. Now we can argue about whether or not he put him in that position to help him or not but the fact is that this is a good position for someone to be in if they are having trouble breathing....and he was.
