Meadows signals imminent indictments in Durham probe: 'It's time for people to go to jail'

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said Sunday that it's "time for people to go to jail" as part of U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe into FBI misconduct -- prompting ex-Trump aide George Papadopoulos to sound a celebratory note on Twitter.

Meadows, during his Sunday interview with Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," also previewed the Trump administration's soon-to-be-released plans for reopening schools and implementing new economic stimulus measures. More details, Meadows said, would be coming this week.

However, Meadows' comments on the Durham probe were among his most suggestive yet. They followed Attorney General Bill Barr's comments to Fox News earlier this year that Durham's findings have been "very troubling" and that familiar names are currently being probed.

"I think the American people are expecting indictments," Meadows told anchor Maria Bartiromo. "I expect indictments based on the evidence I've seen. Lindsey Graham did a good job in getting that out. We know that they not only knew that there wasn't a case, but they continued to investigate and spy."

Internal FBI documents that emerged in April showed that Peter Strzok -- the now-disgraced anti-Trump former head of FBI counterintelligence -- ordered the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to remain open even after it was slated to be closed due to a lack of so-called "derogatory" information. Strzok pursued an investigation based on the Logan Act, a law never used in a successful prosecution and that was intended to prevent individuals from falsely representing the U.S. abroad in a pre-telephone era.

Their lawyers will blather on at the MSM in their place. But if there truly is justice Durham will crack open some of the leftie law firms, using their precedents to do it.

The problem with your position is that it is based on the assumption tha Trump is either fooled or helpless.

He is neither.

Trump and his team don’t give a rat’s a** what the Demsheviks or their propaganda arm aka the “media” equeal.

Absolutely. And Meadows would not be giving this message were it not soon.

Heard that or versions of it before. Believed it then. Not now. Will wait and see what happens. Probably nothing.

Need to find justification for indictments in a jurisdiction other than DC, friendly to Trump and with a Trump fixed Appeals court. If they can do that and make that jurisdiction stick then I’ll grant they are serious. Supremes aren’t a sure thing, but might be by the time they’re needed IF Trump wins in fall. Without which all fails anyway..

Isn’t Durham Connecticut?? Can the indictments be brought in Connecticut??

LOL!! Yeah...that too. I pray every night they will all be held accountable for their crimes, not just in the next life, but in this one as well. I also kept praying that Sessions would do his job, but we all know how that turned out.

There’s no evidence Durham is an “honest broker of justice.” He’s hired Democrat prosecutors and steadfastly refused to indict coupists.

The Deep State plan all along was to delay and run the “investigations” deep into election season where they could be plausibly shut down. Mission accomplished on that note.

IIRC he was US Atty for CT. I have no idea whether that would let him run THIS trial there. I suspect some Freepers are more knowledgeable on the subject.

By creating a false investigation against Sessions, Comey forced him to recuse...

Comey worked for Sessions, not the other way around. It was up to Sessions to determine if Comey's investigation had merit before recusing himself.

...or the DS would create a “constitutional crisis” by claiming Trump was using Sessions to violate the law in order to protect himself.

The Deep State has created fake constitutional crises every step of the way for the last three and one-half years, regardless. As the AG, you do what's right, and you don't act out of fear of some bogus constitutional crisis.

You can't win that way.

He doesn't get to be the one to determine if an investigation into himself "has merit". It's why we don't ask a police officer to investigate himself regarding charges of police brutality  and to get to back to us with the results. We as a society do not ask persons in positions of authority to investigate themselves and determine whether accusations have merit.

The Deep State has created fake constitutional crises every step of the way for the last three and one-half years, regardless. As the AG, you do what's right, and you don't act out of fear of some bogus constitutional crisis.

You can't win by collapsing the government. The Deep State has created fake constitutional crises every step of the way and President Trump and people like Sessions have avoided traps set to topple the government every step of the way. Sessions was chosen for AG for his record and the Deep State needed to rip that away by portraying him, and the president who appointed him as lawless.

Comey worked for Sessions, not the other way around. It was up to Sessions to determine if Comey's investigation had merit before recusing himself.

He doesn't get to be the one to determine if an investigation into himself "has merit"

So then any rogue Deep State DAG could make things up about the AG, then get that AG recused, and then block an investigation into real Deep State corruption? That's what happened. Who do you think a corrupt DAG answers to? Where are the checks and balances on that rogue DAG?

We as a society do not ask persons in positions of authority to investigate themselves and determine whether accusations have merit.

Nope, we as a Constitutional Republic have the AG inside the executive branch, answering to the Chief Executive who than answers to Congress(impeachment) and to the people.

If the AG goes rogue and covers up a legitimate investigation, then it's ups to the Chief Executive, Congress(impeachment) and the people (elections) to correct that. It's not up an unchecked rogue DAG or any other DOJ employee to make the determination of when an AG has to recuse himself.

Unchecked government employees unmoored from the Constitution are exactly why we have a Deep State.

It doesn't work. It didn't work. Look at the damage done.
