Meadows signals imminent indictments in Durham probe: 'It's time for people to go to jail'

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows said Sunday that it's "time for people to go to jail" as part of U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe into FBI misconduct -- prompting ex-Trump aide George Papadopoulos to sound a celebratory note on Twitter.

Meadows, during his Sunday interview with Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures," also previewed the Trump administration's soon-to-be-released plans for reopening schools and implementing new economic stimulus measures. More details, Meadows said, would be coming this week.

However, Meadows' comments on the Durham probe were among his most suggestive yet. They followed Attorney General Bill Barr's comments to Fox News earlier this year that Durham's findings have been "very troubling" and that familiar names are currently being probed.

"I think the American people are expecting indictments," Meadows told anchor Maria Bartiromo. "I expect indictments based on the evidence I've seen. Lindsey Graham did a good job in getting that out. We know that they not only knew that there wasn't a case, but they continued to investigate and spy."

Internal FBI documents that emerged in April showed that Peter Strzok -- the now-disgraced anti-Trump former head of FBI counterintelligence -- ordered the investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn to remain open even after it was slated to be closed due to a lack of so-called "derogatory" information. Strzok pursued an investigation based on the Logan Act, a law never used in a successful prosecution and that was intended to prevent individuals from falsely representing the U.S. abroad in a pre-telephone era.

Durham brought down many mafia families, one of his investigatsion took five years before bringing to trial.

Durham has only been at it for what, just a little over a year? Trouble is it looks like his mandate expires in six weeks.

Durham was appointed in October 2017.

What mandate expires?

Here is a suggestion to White House Staff and the Justice Dept ... STFU, don’t say ANYTHING and then just one day (soon) announce indictments and make arrests IF you have the “goods” on them.

Otherwise you are just making absolute fools of yourselves and when nothing does happen (no indictments) you won’t be devastating the 1/2 of the electorate. But I expect that is what they want to do.

Evidence about that? I know Judicial Watch and congress wanted documents that were not given but if investigations were ongoing, obviously some documents could not yet be made public.

"The debbie downeritis on this thread is like some kind of mental illness."

I'm not sure what "debbie downeritis" means, but I assume it refers to all of the negative comments about Barr and Durham. I expected this thread to be full of such comments, and I understand the impatience and skepticism, but I think it's preposterous to think that either Barr or Dunham are card carrying members of the deep state cabal, and are basically equivalent to the likes of Comey and Mueller.

Such a wide-ranging investigation as Durham's takes time, even without all of the delays and interruptions imposed by the Covid-19 epidemic.

"What mandate expires?"

The invisible mandate of the looming election. I do not see Barr having the political capital to withstand accusations of trying to influence the election for Trump by continuing the investigation past Labor Day to snare a big name. I am sure we might see a low level official indicted on a "process" crime, but that will be it. Durham appears to be an honest broker in the search for justice. The question becomes is Barr simply running cover for the Deep State.

I have no idea how President Trump has refrained from saying something like Lincoln: “If General McClellan isn’t going to use his army, I’d like to borrow it for a time.”

“Well, the 3 year delay re the coup has to do with a blockade created by Comey and Rosenstein wherein they conspired to seize control of the documents needed to investigate the coup.”

Great point. And documents are still being hidden, FOIA requests ignored or redacted to the point of being useless, and stalling for more time is the standard operating procedure. We need a Rick Grinell-type individual to break the cover-up and release all of the pertinent documents without redactions.
