The Police Tribune released a body cam video (warning: explicit violence) of a Michigan deputy emptying her magazine (after clearing a malfunction) into Sean Ernest Ruis shortly after the unarmed suspect stabbed a senior citizen and then came after the deputy with a knife and a screwdriver. The deputy fortunately did not heed Joe Biden's advice to shoot the unarmed man in his leg, as depicted here: "Instead of standing there and teaching a cop, when there's an unarmed person coming at them with a knife or something, you shoot them in the leg instead of in the heart is a very different thing." This is why she did not, as Black Lives Matter puts it, "oink her last" and why her family will not be getting a folded flag.
There are several good lessons from this incident that should go viral well before the November election.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, whose policies may have killed thousands of helpless nursing home patients, said, "No one needs 10 bullets to kill a deer and too many innocent people have died already." The bodycam video shows that the deputy emptied her entire magazine, which apparently held 15 or more rounds (that's five more than Cuomo said she needed), before the unarmed assailant was no longer capable of sticking his knife or something, in this case a screwdriver, into her. This proves Cuomo dishonest or incompetent with regard to the realities of armed self-defense, and probably both. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said, "We protect geese more than we protect — no joke: you can only have three shotgun shells when you go shooting for geese."

That has to be a typo. I read the rest of the article and it contained no opinion that would indicate the author didn't know the difference between armed and unarmed.

Another article said the perp died. He apparently attacked the old man after an argument about his (the perp’s) not wearing a face-mask, which led to this police pursuit.

Article refers to “unarmed suspect” before stating Ruiz had a knife and a screwdriver. Why would I believe anything in an article so blatantly lying about the’armed’ perp?

Another article states the now dead perp stabbed a 72 year old guy for not wearing a mask in a store.
The unarmed is sarcasm based on Biden’s comment on police training: “Instead of standing there and teaching a cop when there’s an unarmed person comin’ at ‘em with a knife or something to shoot ‘em in the leg instead of the heart is a very different thing.”

If she was using a 9 mm, then that could be the problem. Last year a very large vicious feral dog came into our yard and would not leave. I had to use a 9mm because he was under a building and I wanted minimum structure damage. It took 10 rounds to put him down. One round actually ricochet off his skull.
My choice would have been a 40 or 45 if out in the open.
To fully disable the attacker, she’d have to do a CNS or heart wound to immediately disable him.

.357 magnum puts them down, permanently. It’s a .38 caliber bullet, but cuts a wound channel through the body. Very few survive a torso shot done with a .357 magnum.
In the comments section of the article, someone said he did die later at the hospital.
I looked up the definition of “armed” and there are variations. Some define armed as bearing firearms and some define it as bearing weapons.
I am with you and would say the perp was armed. I think the author was not very precise. I think what he was trying to point out is that Joe Biden would not consider someone with a knife to be armed and thinks police should just shoot them in the leg.
