The 2021 Tournament of Roses Parade, an institution in Pasadena, California, since 1891, has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is the first time in 76 years the parade, held each year on New Years Day, has been canceled. This year would have marked the 132nd edition.
With reluctance and tremendous disappointment, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association announces that, in accordance with Gov. [Gavin] Newsoms Phase IV reopening schedule, and after thoughtful consideration of the restrictions and guidelines in place as a result of COVID-19, we are unable to host the 2021 Rose Parade, the organizers of the event said in a statement.
The parade was previously canceled in 1942, 1943 and 1945 due to World War II. Broadcast all around the world, the spectacle-driven event is famed for its procession of flowery floats, horses and marching bands. While further out than most of the events currently being canceled, work on the following years Rose Parade typically begins in February.
The parade generally coincides with the Rose Bowl, a college football playoff semifinal game. Plans for the game are still under consideration.
Not to worry.
If Trump loses, it will be back on.
In fact, everything will be back to normal on Nov 4 if Trump loses
Except crime - that will be far above normal because there will be no cops, just social workers..
But leftist riots are okay.
All part of the fundamental change Obama promised, and something the Rs refuse to discuss. It's as if they all crawled under their desks during one of the most tumultuous periods in our history.
“I would like to see the Rose Parade in person someday.”
The last one I saw in person was over 50 years ago.
Because Jan 1is upon us
What utter nonsense
Cancel everything until next June because there will still be Flu even if no one gets any more SARS2 Covid19 Coronavirus.
>>Why would they do that, its after the election?
They know Biden’s lost it.
This just in: The next scheduled appearance of Halley’s Comet in 2061 has been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.
Unbelievable, hard to believe there isn’t any clear thinking people at the Rose Parade
so we can have tens of thousands of protestors but no floats in a socially distanced parade?
I agree, it’s another in the continued attacks on Americana
I was really looking forward to the Ustinkistan float this year.
It was a devastating choice; since most US bands who had been invited to participate had already canceled, they had worked around the world to arrange bands to come perform.
Many contingency plans had been worked out - banning any street view watching of the parade, no grandstands, TV corner would still be there, but without any live audience.
But ultimately, the problem they couldn't overcome (but they tried various experiments to see if they could) was that it takes thousands of volunteers to decorate the floats for the parade. Many of whom have been doing it for decades, and most of whom are in the 60+ demographic which puts them at the most risk.
They couldn't come up with any reliable barrier that would work with the floats, and this past parade, quite a number of volunteers came down with influenza after the parade, killing 7 of them.
What pathetic snowflakes . Don’t hold back ! Cancel it for 2 to three decades..,at least. Otherwise you will be murdering innocent people.
Maybe Anfifa will put on a parade. The Grand Marshall can be some obese 22 year old young woman snarling at the crowd from a burning trash dumpster float.
I don’t think there will be enough time to build/decorate the floats.
Our society is turning into a lifeless Socialist society, a la the Warsaw Pact or Soviet Union. Democrats are happy.
Lets just cancel life itself and hide because of the scary sicknesses that have existed since time.
Ho Lee (you know his last name)
Land of the captive and home of the scared to death
Has Gruesome cancelled all Christmas holiday decorations, yet?
